Description
So my partner and I did a photo shoot last week out on a trail at Catherine Creek in Washington, just across the river. Part of it was to get some shots of me doing longsword guards in a really nice location (yay, new camera!), but I also wanted to showcase the wolf fur cloak that I'm wearing in the shots (and that just ended up listed on Etsy with a LOT more information: [link] )The sword is a Tinker Pearce hand and a half, which is what I use for cutting drills. Most of the guards in these shots are from genuine medieval swordplay; I’m primarily trained in the German style, but the basic guards are fairly universal. The one in this shot is known as "ochs" or "ox".
Yes, you may use this photo as reference, IF you let me know ahead of time, GIVE me credit, and SHOW me what you did once your project's done so I can be all appreciative

I'm looking for images like this for reference. A comic book I am working on. Might use it and other photos of an Ochs stance if you don't mind.
First sketches here.

Thanks!! I added the photo to my references for this page:

1st page, 4th panel.
This is just the initial roughs and the hand position confused me. But will be using this stance later as well on additional pages.
I usually post on Tumblr, but will try to keep my deviant art up to date if I can.
Cheers

As I mentioned in the description, it's a Tinker Pearce hand and a half manufactured by Hanwei. There's no such thing as a "bastard sword"--that's a term popularized by fantasy novels and RPGs, along with the myth that longswords are slow and heavy. Hand and a half is the proper term for this size of sword--it can be wielded with two hands or one.

Okay, cool--a lot of people outside of the WMA community have no friggin' clue what I'm talking about when I go on about this, so it's ncie to have the basics out of the way
Here is the designer's website: [link]
And the forge that actually manufactuers this line of swords: [link]
