Description Thursday Next, Goliath, Booktastic, Willspeak ... (c) Jasper Fforde

My First Thursday Next Fanart!

An Illustration from the chapter "Airship to Swindon" , in the book "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper FForde. This book is also the first one in the Thursday Next series, which I highly recommend. ^^

This picture took me like a month to finish, here I tried to include some of the interesting settings of this series - Thursday Next who is the main character, a Literary Detective ------ in this parallel world, literary is a VERY popular medium, hence soft drink vending machine turned into a "Willspeak " machine, with a manniquin of a Shakesperian Character quote its famous speeches when you put a coin in it. Also bushes shaped in a dodo since they are a very popular choice of pet in this world. And also some advertisement posters which may be seen in this interesting world.

Oh almost forgot to mention, Airship is a popular way to travel, so I drew this picture with Thursday standing outside a Airship station, waiting for the car sent by the LiteraTecs Office to pick her up.

An easy ffave, as this is a ffantastic piece of ffanart. (I'm sure you'll get the reference there.)
Seriously, the amount of detail you put into the background, and the quality of it really makes me hate my own inadequacies.
Outstanding job!

the first thing I decided after reading the first book is that I wanted a dodo as a pet. So... if they ever, ever recreate dodo's from DNA... I'M GETTING ONE AND NAMING IT PICKWICK!! Just because!

And I love your Thursday!

This is the coolest TN fanart I've seen. It has to be said.
It's so detailed; you obviously took some time focusing on the background, which a lot of fanart is lacking. Everything in the picture has relevance to the story.
I'd love to see the next scene -- the one where she first meets Spike, who is awesome.

This is wonderful! I searched DevArt for fanart of Thursday just for fun, and stumbled across this! I adore the detail, it's beautiful. I just picked up the book a few days ago, I fell in love instantly with the story! I will try to find it in english, as I'm sure it will be even better, with all the puns and such, it's hard to translate everything. Aaaand, now I'm ranting

So sue me:

UH-OH. OOPS. Damn. Sorry ColdFire, I mistakenly did not reply to you but sent the following directly to Lurazeda. (Oh, and I forgot to say that your prose-poetry is very nice.

CFEA, Two months is way too long to wait. If you cannot get Jasper Fforde's first novel--The Eyre Affair from a library, please send me your address to timmothy@care2.com and I would be happy to send you a used copy--English only; I do not believe there is a Tagalog edition out yet. Lurazeda is correct in her assertion that it is a mustread for bibliophiles as well as lovers of creative fiction. That being said, it is a good idea to borrow a book of which you have received a recommendation from someone whom you not know well. I once heard the first chapter of Gann's The Magistrate read by Dick Estell on National Public Radio. It was a terrific beginning but I got hopelessly behind when I missed the next month of NPR. I promptly started waiting for the paperback edition which was not in print yet and went to my book store everyday for two months. I finally did receive it and yes the beginning was still great: a substitute judge meeting and dispensing justice to a wide range of people on his first day on the bench but alas the book went downhill from there and did not warrent a purchase.

Dear kind Sir,

First of all, I wish to thank you for the compliments. ^_^

I've waited longer for certain books sir. Just like my Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas), Penguin Classics edition, translated by Robin Buss. Took me four months it did. I'm very glad about the offer sir, but what's the catch? If I agree to your offer, will it be alright if we use pseudonyms for security's sake? Oh, and I don't read Tagalog books. ^_^ I was born and raised to speak the English tongue. ^_^ By the by, how do you know that the Philippine national language is Tagalog? Have you ever been to the Philippines? Or perhaps you've done some research on it? ^_^

Those being said, let us talk of books shall we? As of the moment I am on a Dumasmania, for, having finished Arturo Perez Reverte's El Club Dumas, (e-book version, which I believe had some good parts cut off, and which contained a load of bloody errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation) I have been compelled to finish Count of Monte Cristo whilest reading Man in the Iron Mask and 20 Years After. ^_^ 'T is quite hard to do so when your humble abode is devoid of electricity but that won't stop me from reading. Speaking of recommendations, if you are a fan of detective fiction, pastiches and historical novels, I recommend Laurie R. King's latest book "Language of the Bees" which features the legendary master sleuth (and my personal idol ^_^ ) Sherlock Holmes, and his charming young wife Mary Russell. Should you like said book, you might want to read the entire series, of which I believe ample information can be found by googling it. ^_^

Perhaps we can discuss the details of the transaction further, to clarify all the blurry bits? I wish to trust you good sir, and I must get to know you to establish that trust. Thanks once again for the kind and very tempting offer. Please do tell me where we can further discuss in private. Have a pleasant day/evening kind sir. It is a pleasure to converse with you. ^_^ Do take care.

-Azula.

Miss Azula, I have not seen an email from you which in itself is perfectly fine and understandable but it occurs to me that your response got swept into the spam filter. I open and glance at these but azula is not of my immediate vernacular I may have missed it. If so and you do respond, it may be prudent to also respond to this note to remind me to look at my mail more carefully. I shall not fill your mail box with spam any more unless it is a response to future mail I may receive. t

CFE Azula, There is no catch, if you mean any obligation on your part for anything. If you are hesitant to provide personal information such as your address to someone you do not know, I understand the concern and would not feel bad if you rejected my offer. But if you have questions or concerns, I would be happy to try to answer them in e-mail(s). If I did not provide my email address on the previous note, it is as follows: timmothy@care2.com I would also be happy to respond to your book/author comments but I think I have trespassed on Lurazeda's comment page too much as it is. Thank you and may you take care as well. t
