Description
Here is my entry for =TimberClipse 's The Symbol of Peace Contest .I was surprised that I didn't see any other entries similar to this, as this is usually what immediately springs to mind when I hear or see the word 'peace'.
It took quite a while, and after making this piece, my new worst enemy is definitely the wind.
I just fiddled with some colours and transparency and stuff to make it look a little different.

Personally, I think the filter effect ruins it; it'd be far more effective (and just generally more pleasing to the eye) if it didn't have the rainbow haze above it. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="19" height="19" alt="

I gave it 4/5 for vision as I can understand that you thought of the idea yourself, and for that fact that this appears to have come out as your imagined it.
I gave it 2.5/5 for originality because it's quite a typical theme: peace... flowers... (rainbow...).
I gave it a 4/5 in technique because - again - it appears to have come out as you wanted it to. (And because it sounds like you put a bit of effort into it, battling the wind and all.)
I gave it a 3.5/5 for impact as it's not particularly eye-catching or hard-hitting, in the sense that, essentially, you haven't accentuated the idea of peace: this doesn't really convince me to think harder about my actions - but as it looks good, it rises up a bit.
But yeah - personally, I'd remove the rainbow splash (I acknowledge that you may have only added that to remove a few oddities or roughness, but try other techniques maybe - just a little bit of editing/repairing or contrast changes) and reduce the thickness of the border. It seems as though you're trying too hard to emphasise the image itself, and in doing so my eyes are brought to the over-emphasising border rather than the piece itself. (I don't know, reduce it from [a presumed] 5 pt thickness to 2 or 2.5?
