I'd be torn between fervently writing everything about my journeys and not wanting to 'mess up' such a beautiful journal if this was mine.
Beautiful work. It could be used to document journeys of many different kinds. The heart is a wonderful touch, adding feeling to the concept of travels with the map and compass design.

the customer who commissioned this, had told me her hopes and dreams, also her past that led to those hopes and dreams. i saw apt to have that winged heart in the center. it is very close to what you suggested.

I love the books you come up with! What do you use to attach the cover to the leather spines? I don't see any screws or stitching. Some kind of glue?

It's amazing. Like your other books.
Maybe a stupid question but how do you get the metall things to stick to the book? I suppose you use screws form some stuff but sometimes it just looks like it there anyway. Do you use glue or something? I've been thinking about putting small cogs on one of my books but I have no idea how to get them to stick 'cause they are too small to use screws.

i use a 2-part epoxy glue for metal. becos the cover is made of 3mm Mdf boards, screwing everything on the cover would weaken it as i have to drill too many holes on such a think sheet of compressed wood. so the best choice is to use a glue. and from experience, 2-part epoxy is the strongest.

I see. Yes, the glue I used didn't really keep the things in place. They were too smooth and fell of. But I'll see if I can find some other kind of glue.

This probably isn't the kind of compliment you're looking for, and I'm probably not going to explain it very well, but... I love the work you put into creating nice photos of your crafts. All too many craft artists just snap a photo of their finished piece still sitting on a cluttered kitchen table and put it on deviantArt. But you... you keep going and make a beautiful setting for your work to sit in before you photograph it.
I much appreciate it and I'm sure many of your other watchers do as well. (We're usually just too distracted by the fantastic book or necklace you've made to say anything about it though.)

i've always believed that it would have been a wasted effort on the piece itself if it were not presented properly. it is also a way of honoring that piece of art that have been 'soul-fully' and 'heart-fully' created. i started out with not knowing the workings of a camera, not that i know it very well now, i still use a semi auto cybershot O_O ... but i wasn't satisfied with just snapping any picture of the work i spent so many hours creating. whether you like to accept it or not .. presentation (or more crudely put in the commercial world - packaging) is very important. to me tho, presentation is the art of bringing the best out of your art. so my art doesn't end when the piece is completed ... it ends when the piece has been "immortalized" to the best of my ninny photography efforts. i really do enjoy the taking pictures and the editing pictures parts too ... they're all part of self expression, like all artform is.
