oh neato, it just arrived - very high quality paper on the CoA and thank you note.
Oh and thanks for the small print of an owl (I think - not too well versed on birds and a bit more focused on the main part of the package which looks even better in person, the colors aren't as vibrant as on my monitor (ramped saturation) but the red is deeper instead (this is a good thing, it's almost pink in some parts on my screen)

Well, no matter - better reds, worse yellows and greens (blues are just as good in a different way, on my screen they're a vibrant sapphire - in real life they're closer to dark violet->ice blue which is just as fantastic imo, while not as vibrant it's far more expressive of the masks intent) - fair trade imo, red is the dominant color. (and I didn't expect such a vibrant yellow and green in the final result anyway, real life colors aren't as vibrant as on my screen which is fine.

Overall 11/10 would buy again... now to build a frame, 12 by 16 masonite - either kept in by pressure against front-glass or by other means... whelp, that's something for me to ponder now, in any case it'll be a pleasure to hang on my wall.

Glad it arrived safely!
Calibrating screens is such a pain, every screen seems to give different colours. :/ My phone is drastically different from each of my two computers, but at least my main computer seems to be the closest to my paintings. Neverending battle!

well, it is calibrated - it's just calibrated for more vibrant colors (which makes pretty much everything look awesome, too bad reality doesn't have any way of popping saturation)

The reason I configured my monitor this way is mostly because it's a relatively bad monitor that doesn't handle some shades in the lower range too well so I compensated to get a good color range that looks nice, as I said - I knew it wouldn't be as saturated. just not by how much, either way - the deeper red is awesome.

I was going to wait a few days to announce the original for sale since oil paint takes a bit to dry, but the link for the sale page is here: danielletrudeaustudios.com/pro…

alright, so I actually ended up buying it a few days ago, I'm just wondering how long it usually takes before you send it out (I mean, I don't expect you to ship it out over the weekend - I'm just impatient), but I also want a tracking number sooner rather than later so I get a timeline before I can stick it on my wall

Oh well, nonetheless - it's rare for me to click buy on anything, let alone luxury products... so yeah, there's that.

I really like that the price /w shipping came to $222 CAD, very nice and round.

Ahh thank you so much for your support!!
I'm just giving the varnish one more day to dry fully before I package the piece up to mail it, so it should be in the mail by Tuesday by the latest.

alright, works for me - take all the time you need, I didn't realize you were still applying varnish

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LuxDani In reply to CubeGod [2016-09-26 13:13:08 +0000 UTC]

I applied it a few days ago, but with oils things take a bit to cure completely.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CubeGod In reply to LuxDani [2016-09-27 19:21:41 +0000 UTC]

I'll take your word for it, knowing how long varnish can take to dry on other materials I don't doubt it tbh, even a relatively thin layer can take 48h+ depending on the specific blend (on wood, I wager the principle ought to be the same here as well, minus all the sandpaper)

Majora always had such a powerful, intimidating appearance which what I loved about its design.
I used to be so terrified of its mask as a kid lol!

My cousin used to own MM on N64 when I was little but she forbid me and my sister to play it because we were so little at the time.
Seeing the mask on the cartridge probably freaked me out to not play it back then hahaha

It was definitely a creepy mask (though not as creepy as the Moon, might I add!), but I think that's why it became so near and dear to my heart.

Oh yeah. I'm SO GLAD i never saw the moon as a little kid (well until I got Melee for the GameCube lol)
I was kinda creeped out when I saw its fiendish face in the Termina stage but thankfully not traumatized.
