Description Asked Eirene from here   to pose on the sofa for the next Octane test.

Having a look how it looks with the light coming through the window only. Using the "Paris Studio" room.

The white stuff below her knee is part of the floor, I think it's supposed to be candle wax or paint… at any rate, it is not what a naughty mind could think!

There is a nude painting in the background, but it doesn't feel to me like this needs to have a nudity tag. Or does it?

Poser render using Octane plug-in. 1280 x 720 wallpaper size.

Very nice lighting, providing a pleasant warm atmosphere. Very well done.

And there is certainly no need for a nudity tag, hey, you're on D.A. here, not at renderosity !!!

Splendid picture. Did you use a dynamic cloth? Its pose looks so perfect...

The effect of the sun through the window is awesome, and I wonder something: Octane looks to be excellent with outdoor-like lights: The last test I did turned completely black until I remembered that a surrounding sphere was used to implement an IDL environment. Can it be used with full indoor scene?

Thank you No, it's a posed one.

An IDL sphere will block the sun... hmmm... I suppose one isn't really meant to use them with Octane. With Firefly I couldn't live without them.

In indoor scenes I have so far used daylight coming through windows (with and without additional light emitters) or "texture environment" lighting mode using light emitters.

If you use the Python script from the Scripts menu it will turn the Poser lights into light emitters (flat planes). But you can make lights from any geometric shape or any "material zone" of an object. For example the ones in the Primitives folder in main runtime Props section, or V4's hands if one is feeling silly

Load object called Cylinder from Primitives folder into Poser scene. Run Octane render plug-in. Go to materials tab, you should see object called "cyl_1". Open it, there is only one material called "Preview". Click on it and change node type to diffuse. Open Preview, there should be a line that says "emission [not connected]", click on it and change node type to "blackbody" and after that it is a light you can control with the values under emission.

This is how to make lights with Octane. It does not have the kind of lights we are used to having in Poser.
