I gave them the right coloured stockings (one of the last pages) and then layered other shapes (mostly the glass lenses and blurred circles) over the gap between their legs. Then I just used the belt and made the fin with the s-shaped pieces. I also had to make their toes 'invisible' with blurred circles that blended with the background (though you can see it).
