Why am I dancing in the darkwith only my shadow to hold onto?
to touch his flesh
to feel his pain as mine
to give him comfort and wipe his tears
this stranger I now hold
we're dancing in the dark.
close dancing, holding onto myself
don't let go, don't want this to end
step by step, round and round
binding our souls
so our sorrow is one
tears on his shoulder, his upon mine
holding onto my shadow.

The imagery I get from reading this is incredible - it's like a scene from a movie in my mind, vivid and full of shadow play in the background - as well as the shadow in question.
I like the comfort I get from this, amoung the pain, but at the same time it is sad that this is the only support available.
