Description An extraterrestrial analogue of a tree. It is a colonial organism with each ramete adapted to fill a different role in the colony. Some provide structure for others to grow on, some store energy, some provide reproduction, catch airborne food or house photosynthetic symbiotes. The organism itself is not a true photosynthesizer but rather it catches microscopic photosynthetic aeroplankton and houses it within its own leaf-like organs. The microorganisms gain nurture and safety while the haluz harvests the products of their symbiotes’ photosynthesis.

The reproductive life stages are interesting too; as opposed to the sessile colony they are motile, flying critters and an important part of the planet’s aeroplenkton. Guided by the whistling sounds produced by other colonies, they fly to find a mate. The two reproductive life stages conjoin and plant themselves into the ground, starting a new sessile colony.
