Description
I know that I am certainly not a master of drawing and NONE of these sketches are a 100% accurate! But I felt like sharing my way of thinking with you guys and I really hope that it was at least a little useful to you~ ^^ <3I read through the text like 10 times... I still probably managed to miss some spelling mistake... If I did, please just ignore it? x_x

Thank you for writing this. I've had this suspicion since about second grade that there was more to drawing from imagination than the all-or-nothing approach I was taught in early drawing classes: copy a "reference" or make it up using only a knowledge of proportions. Only with doing gesture drawings of live models in my art classes this year have I finally gotten close to figuring out what you say here. This is how to use a reference! I wish someone had told me this so much earlier, but it's nice to know now rather than never. Thanks again!

I followed a ton of reference blogs recently but always get frustrated whenever I use them because they don't seem to come out right, so this is very useful. Thank you!

Wow, this is really helpful, thank you so much! I'm always looking for ways to improve my anatomy and references might be a good idea for me to get the hang of different proportions and such, especially when it comes to more complicated poses. Thanks again, great tips! âĨ

That was really helpful. I've always been rubbish at drawing people, even from references but I think your ideas might actually help me as they are the things I get wrong. It definitely sounds like a good idea and the pictures really help to see how it works and I understand how I might go about drawing them. Thank you for doing this. I might have to try it out soon.
