Description The Halcyons' battle krakens are their "true" battleships. While the typical halcyon warship is designed to neutralise rather than destroy, meant to be used as defensive weapons, the Krakens are truly fearsome testaments to what the halcyon specie can conjure when enraged.

The Krakens aren't crewed warships. Instead, they are semi organic, sentient constructs - not machines, but actual, living, sentient warmachines.
6 kilometers long without counting the tentacles, with 12 tentacles, each reaching to 18 kilometers, the krakens are agile, gigantic warmachines.

Krakens are rare sights, typically launched in groups of three, and typically on their own. Heavily armed, armored, the Krakens are cunning, highly intelligent constructs with truly gigantic artificial brains. Most notable, a Kraken is able to mend minor "wounds"and keep it's hull together longer than your typical artificial craft, but still requires to reach shipyards or colonies for reliable repairs. A Kraken is a free sentient construct, which will typically set itself upon a planet of it's choice until called - this being seen as their territory, where they will often rest and recuperate between battles - unless they are required to push on, or requested to come to a halcyon structure for repairs, refitting and mendings.

Each Krakens communicate employing psychic, and exhibit moderate telekinetic aptitudes. They are typically harmless unless provoked, and with a well lectured mannerism. A Kraken, before entering battle, will always call out it's name in a large broadcast, alongside some sort of oath of honor, and the reason for its presence - be it by request or for the protection of an ally or friend, by order, or by personal choice.

It is possible to befriend a Kraken, and like any Halcyon, a Kraken will always be ready to face an entire fleet to protect a said friend. Due to this, mentions of somebody being a friend of a halcyon Kraken are often seen as a serious mention, and many commanders will often simply let go of prisoners at this mention, as more often than not, a prisoner will not be worth the potential loses from facing a Kraken.

The Krakens contain internal "pockets" in which organics can reside, as well as large storage in case couriering is required. A Kraken will typically feed when able, but can sustain itself from stellar light, although it requires nutrients and mass, alongside water to repair, heal and power it's weapons and faster than light travelling.

Krakens, like any other life forms, aren't fearless, however, and will retreat if they feel threatened, heavily injured, or when able.

The Halcyon Kraken shown is named "Kriemhild", and seems to refer to refer to itself as a female.

Each Krakens, with unique names, also exhibit personalities and traits of their own.

Thanks!

I've been wanting to make some sort of mechanical kraken for ages, and I might revisit this idea quite soon, as I am not overly happy with how it turned out. Half way through, I focused more on the practicality of the design rather than the theme, which basically lead to it being an angled rocket with side armoring and tentacles. Still, I quite like it, and it was quite fun to work with it

It also reminded me of a Bacteriophage or something like that
