Gaaagh, confusing categories x_xok, well, I recently read Death Note and it was awesome 8D so I decided to let my first deviation of the new year (and in a while) be a fan art of it! wooo~
I just looked at some references of the greatest couple *cough* I mean rivals ever(you may recognize those references :3) added my touch a bit(just to mess it up XD) and then edited the pencil drawing I made in PS a bit. Then... just somehow thought it looked a whole lot better upside down o___o but you can flip it if you want and view it normally XD

Funny thing is that Light's smile seems too, well, happy somehow, which is a bit weird on his face - he usually smiled the EVIL way

The black bg makes it come out nicer
Also, the upside down effect is cool, and not only because it looks cool. It is also that that people don't get much to see the mistakes
It makes it look a bit mysterious, but it is also confusing a little :/
Compared to L, Light seems too... well, light. But I have no idea how to make it balance more 
Ryuuzaki is cool, but I guess you used a bit too much reference

Yesh, well the use of dark and light is to show the relation of who has the upper hand x3;
And I know there r mistakes T3T because if you flip it horizontally, it doesn't look good at all.
And I know I used too much reference xD; but I just looked at it, I didn't trace over it at least
