I believe they could work as items. Rather than protecting one specific team, it has different effects on whoever summons them:
Rok-ko: Create a giant rock sphere that can squash opponents, and only breaks when hit by a projectile, leaving the player intact.
Wa-Wa: Transform the player into a water version of themselves, and pass through opponents, and setting off missiles thrown at you.
Py-Ro: Cover the player in fire, lighting up the opponents and being immune to missiles.
Lo-Lo: Create a tornado that launches opponents and projectiles away.

I honestly want them to appear in CTR:NF.
Maybe to support different groups.
