He's a boy, and he's fixed, although apparently the only reason he's fixed is because someone did it after he was hanging around spraying and contributing to the feral cat population. No idea if he has had his shots or not, but another neighbour treated him for fleas. Anyway he will be going to the vet for a check up regardless because who knows why he was tossed out. He might have a terminal illness that someone couldn't be arsed to treat.I decided to name him Vaettir because the opinion of people who have seen him is that he is at least part Norwegian Forest Cat, and a Vaettir is a type of Norwegian spirit. (Whether good or bad I do not know - input from any Scandinavians in the house would be appreciated). The other reason I chose to call him Vaettir is because he can honestly materialize from anywhere in the house. He pops out of cracks you would swear are too small for a cat, he suddenly shows up on a shelf, he walks out from behind the monitor when you just saw him on the sofa five minutes ago... he certainly has a talent for Kitty Magic. He's very special and I'm lucky to have him.

My kitty has the same sort of markings as Vaettir but she's just a black and white moggy, though she still does an amazing reappearing act whenever you open the fridge or a cupboard door...

Wise decision and he is very lucky to have you. He's a lovely Kitteh and the Norwegian Forest Cat gets to be a large breed....so you have potential for hugeness when he gets some proper food into him. Looks like a lovely double coat too. You can spin his fur!!!
A Vaettir in the house is a good thing, especially when he is a Cat. I expect Erik is one and if he isn't little Hime is. She sits and watches the doors. Watch him for staring at things on the ceiling but you're already a Kitteh Mama. The House Nisse here have told me that your "Vaettir" will be more of a help to you than a hinder. He'll teach you a few things though coming out of the wild. I adore his eyes.
Please pet him for all of us -- Eric rubbed up against the screen -- and tell him he's loved.

WHAT a cool tuxedo kitty!! (reference to his color) I totally LOVE his milk mustachio and the way it makes him look like he is smiling! Talk about a chesire cat...or a "cat that ate the canary" grin. I miss having cats...our landlord won't let us have one but you can bet the minute bank papers are signed on this place there will be cats in my house again. Would you mind if I use this one for reference sometime?

Oh I bet he has a beautiful perfect black tail with a white point or a perfectly black tail. He reminds me of a kitten that was born in my bottom drawer almost 30 years ago. His siblings had all been born and were pure white and I moved them into my bottom drawer (having been born on my bed @ 2am in the morning) and when I woke up at 0600 there was a little tiny black kitten. He looked almost like Vaettir when he was full grown, even for the white bibs, the white feet and the double coat.
I cannot wait to see Vaettir's Tail!!

He lived an excellently long life of 20 and died in his basket in the sun. His Elder brother, Smoke, lived another year and a half before slipping gently away. Temujin and Cuni, the two I had from the litter, had died at 19 within days of each other. I should post pictures of them if I can find them....Katy has redone our picture box. The Twins are buried under the Rose Arbor under the 7 Sisters where our Altar is set up. We still see them racing around the yard and through the house. Temujin is especially close now that Max is getting old.

He was quite the surprise! My cousin kept him and on of the other kittens -- who all turned out to be part Siamese/Snowshoe? -- and each had a different colour. Fawn point, lilac point, seal point you get the idea. We kept four between Michele and us, two kittens went to another excellent home of a friend of ours home and the mother escaped us and went back to the farm to live out her days hunting mice.
I'll have to see if I have a picture of Bartholem-Mew and post him. His companion was the second larget in the group -- Smoke a pale grey point but I thought more a dark lilac. meer meer meer

He seems to have no interest in the birdies. But he clearly knows what a comb is. If I want him to move all I have to do is show it to him and he suddenly recalls he has pressing business elsewhere.

Aww, he's gorgeous. And sorry, the only thing that I know about Vaettirs is that they are a creature in Guild Wars. And they are friggin' HARD to kill... so maybe it does suit him xD
