They did that in the Season 5 episode "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?" In the townwide shared dream, Fluttershy saved Dr. Hooves from a giant house monster by turning at will into Flutterbat and biting the monster's foot, changing back into Fluttershy and flying away with the rescued Doc.
