Updates Sorry again for the problem with associating GIF files, I'll work on that as well.
To those who experience problems and crashes pls remove previous versions and redownload this updated version (1.0.1)
note me if problem is still there. thanks!
Fixed all possible issues causing a generic error to stop app from starting.
You can now view images from explorer using "Open with..."
External programs can now be associated with Imagepad giving you the flexibility to pass the image to your alternative viewer or editor with a few clicks.
Profiles are here to offer more customizations and more choices for our users.
Lots of other improvements.
Some bugs fixed & many more...
Pardon me for the "delete" bug and "set wallpaper" incompatibility for some OS. I'll work on it on the next version.

Compatibility Windows XP | Vista | 7
.NET 3.5 Fw (.NET Fw 2.0 unconfirmed?)
x86 | x64

note : pls help me test this on your system if you have x64 system with .NET 3.5 Fw installed
and to those with .NET Fw lower than 3.5 (possibly 2.0) installed, please try if Imagepad will run in your system. note me. I am trying to make this app compatible as it can be.

How to Set it as the default viewer manually
  • Right-click on desired image file (.png | .jpg | .bmp | etc.)
  • From the context menu, choose to "Open with..." > "Select program"
  • A dialog box will appear, browse the location of "Imagepad.exe" and check the "Set as default viewer for all file types" box.
note : there is an issue associating gif files.

After long hours of coding and debugging I finally made two steps to completing my dream image viewer.

Please and feel free to comment!

~ Enjoy.

YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH! YES! AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA THIS IS AMAZING!

I'm not used to third party developers creating perfect apps w/o skipping something important like file association in the RTM, let alone the RC. Great job and kudos to you and the perfect image viewer.

Sorry, but for some reason I got a generic Windows Error telling me it stopped working and windows was searching for a fix.

I ran the .application file in a desperate effort, it said

"Unable to install or run the application The application requires that assembly Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.Vs Version 9.0.0.0 be install in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first.

Any help? I just wanted to bring this up, maybe I just need to install that part, but perhaps other users might be unaware.

I have Windows 7
Is it because I'm on a 64-bit OS? Your application appears at 64-bit native.

VB Express 2008 to be precise. I don't really have much to use a complete VS.

Originally it is for developing my software programming and to build up a portfolio.

Hello. I researched on how to make 32-bit apps work on 64-bit systems.
It seems that you need to install components like this [link] to run 32-bit apps.
Can you try it? thanks

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mikejon45 In reply to MAGNUMHEARTED [2010-11-03 14:07:14 +0000 UTC]

I already had the components installed that you suggested...
your latest release seems to be working fine now...
I'm just having difficulty getting my gif's to open with it when double clicking on them even though I tried to associate them with imagepad it still doesn't open them.

many thanks for the latest release...much appreciated.

Mike.

nice but when I double-click on an animated gif it refuses to display it...
I can open the gif from within the program itself but it won't respond to the double-click.

MAGNUMHEARTED In reply to mikejon45 [2010-10-30 00:07:59 +0000 UTC]

Yes that's because the program is not yet integrated into your system to view from explorer.
Maybe in the next version we can integrate that feature.
You can always do drag-drop on the canvas to view images.

Ok, i found annother "bug". and i quote it because i am not sure if it qualifies as a bug or not.

But the window doesn't have a diagonal re-size. So to manually change the size of the window, one must first change the width, then the height, or vice-versa. I am not sure if this was over looked, or if it would complicate the programming because of resizing in two directions at once, and purposely avoided.

MAGNUMHEARTED In reply to flexdaw [2010-10-29 22:38:16 +0000 UTC]

It's not a bug but a strange issue in the components used.
If the they would to release a fix for that it can be fixed.
I find it also hard to resize, I'll try to find a way to fix the problem.
