Pokedex Challenge #46 #47I'm drawing the pokemons as they appear in the gameboy games: pokemon red and blue version, while I learn how to draw with Paint Tool Sai.

Paras changed a lot! It had another kind of mouth, the eyes were above the head and the head shape was different.
I don't know if the Parasect can hide it's head inside the mushroom (like it's a shell) now. It's head in the new designs seems like a separated piece from the body.

amazing work with the colors, certainly has that sort of "mushy poison like" vibe to it, sort of how when you go to certain areas in games where there are many mushrooms it feels like its likely an enemy will poison you with its attacks

i thought of that after playing DQB for a while, areas with mushrooms tend to have poison elements around it, and the first game it was the most poison filled area that had the most mushrooms I think lmao

It's kind of funny how in Green, Paras' sprite is more accurate to the Sugimori artwork than in Blue. And I liked how the mushroom in Parasect was basically a new shell instead of a "hat" like in the newer sprites, 3d models and artworks, mostly because of the hidden eyes, it gave it a much more eerie look.

That's true! I didn't notice it before, Paras is more accurate in the Green version than in Blue =O
I couldn't agree more with you! The mushroom as a shell is better than the "hat". Parasect looked more like a crab and, at the same time, the eerie eyes gave it the zombie look. Now it's face is just silly.
Pokemon was a lot darker before! Even the rivals now are "friends", it's so artificial...

Indeed, who can forget the fact that Team Rocket killed a Marowak or cut up the tails of Slowpokes (Although the Pokedex entries in Pokemon Sun and Moon could be a little freakish sometimes). And yeah, I wanna see jerkish rivals to make a return someday.

Team Rocket killed a maroak with a baby, cut the tails of slowpokes, Gary was a jerk, Lavander Tower was scary, cubone used it's mother's skull, parasect was a zombie, grown ups would passively-aggressively make you buy stuff for them, Kadabra was human (if I remember it well)...

That reminds of how some early media portrayed the Self-Destruct move, instead of fainting the pokemon, it was more like a suicide.
