Description
During the space race on Earth-115, the constant rocket launches coming from Earth alerted an alien adventurer to our planet's existence and drew him closer to examine it properly. Alarmed by the crime and hatred rampant on Earth, he used his ship's computers to select a group of civilians from the planet's population and brough them before him, using his extraterrestrial science to change them into a group of champions dedicated to truth, justice and peace. With the alien as their leader, they became the Superstars.Black Marvel: Omar Mosely always wanted to be a scientist, but being African American, he couldn't afford college and ended up being a chauffer for the wealthy Lyons family. Needless to say, the amazing technology on Stardust's ship was everything he had ever dreamed of come true. Stardust's genetic treatments purged Omar's body of all traces or genetic risk of disease or flaw, causing him to become a perfect human being, as well as pushing his strength, speed, durability and agility far beyond even the finest human athletes. The only one who knows Omar's secret is the son of his employer, and his best friend, Dan Lyons. Dan admired Omar for being chosen to help defend the Earth, and even helped him design a costume and come up with the name Black Marvel, saying "When you're ready to show more of your face, people will have no choice but to respect you."
Meteor Master: Billy Friday was an aspiring writer from England who enjoyed stargazing in his spare time. When Billy was brought aboard Stardust's ship, he naturally was fascinated by the knowledge of worlds and civilizations beyond humanity's understanding. Stardust gifted Billy with a suit of armor from his home planet that had been implanted with various xenominerals collected from asteroids and comets from the extraterrestrial's various adventures across the stars. The energies from the stones caused Billy's red hair to turn white and amazingly, each different stone gave him a different power.
Captain Universe: Of all his test subjects, Midwestern farmer's son Josh Walker was the one who ended up becoming the most like Stardust himself. Having been exposed to cosmic energies, Josh became superhumanly strong, fast, capable of firing various energy beams from his eyes and able to control his mass, willing himself to be lighter than air or denser than Uranium.
Stardust: A scientist and adventurer from a distant galaxy, Stardust's people have advanced to the point where they have completely mastered all forms of science, to the point to where beings of our level view their technology as functional magic. Bored with his life of ease, Stardust took an exploration cruiser and set out to see the universe and all it had to offer him. After saving a planet from an asteroid storm, Stardust discovered adventure to his liking and has been journeying across the known universe ever since.
Nebula: Asami Hirohito from Japan was an aspiring biology student when Stardust recruited her. Genetically spliced with DNA from a race of beings who are essentially living stars, Asami was forever changed, gaining the powers of gravity and projecting cosmic plasma as devastating beams for heat and force.
Electo-Woman: Laura was a magazine reporter known for never pulling her punches when she wrote a story. Stardust was impressed by her honesty and spark and recruited her. She was subjected to an experiment that multiplied her neuro-electric impulses to the point she can shoot them from her hands as bolts of lightning. In addition, she can harness the Earth's electromagnetic field and defy gravity.
Zip: Hector Ramirez had spent most of his life bound to a wheelchair after an accident that broke his spine and shattered his legs as a small child. In spite of the odds stacked against him, Hector never lost his optimistic heart. Brought to Stardust's ship, he was amazed when the alien adventurer used the machines in his ship's med-bay to not only repair his back and legs, but make them better, increasing the strength of the muscles in his body so much that he could now move at superhuman speed, appearing as little more than a blur to most observers.
