Description After the whole Commander Picky thing, several people on the Harmony forum started talking about and drawing the other characters in Pork Army get up. Long story short I became obliged to do this. I guess the title doesn't really make sense, they wouldn't really all be commanders... This is a bigger version of the drawing that is on the forum.

Anyway, here's my huge description I left with this picture on the thread on Starmen.net:

It was actually pretty fun designing their costumes and thinking about their supposed role in such an alternative universe. I imagine that in this realm of possibility, Porky sees some great use of all four of our group and manages to kidnap and brainwash them. He, of course, assigns their roles.

Tracy- Commander Picky’s subordinate, but an important gear in the Pork Army nonetheless. A brilliant strategist and propagandist, she works closely with Picky. She helps plan the take over of Osohe castle and its surrounding areas. Also, she finally gets a the puppy she always wanted… (Which I didn’t really draw…. heh… She’s not such a sweet girl anymore… Memories of her brother and his efforts gone, she follows only her own, Picky, and Porky’s ambitions, paying little mind to anybody else.

Lydia-With Lydia’s extensive knowledge of science and her military training, she is the obvious choice for beating the pig army into shape. (Most of the soldiers would have been "plucked’ from her time too.) So she trains the troops and is also one of the heads in the chimaera project. Excessively cruel to her underlings and all around cold, Lydia just becomes a really mean person.

Kang- Porky really finds little use for Kang. Kang has the position of “general lackey,” but because of his PSI abilities Porky thinks of him as a secret weapon as well, and is only waiting for the time to come when he will be of use. Bitter about peeling potatoes and cleaning lavatories all day, he trains very hard at night, hoping to prove himself to his higher ups…
(also, I always forget the pigmask jackets cross on the other side. D’oh.)

I think having all four of them changes the Mother 3 story a lot. For one, if most of them are brainwashed they don’t regret anything and serve Porky faithfully.

I’ll have you know, this has taken away comic making time!
Hahah, but enjoy anyway.

I seriously love this concept, especially the fact Tracy gets a dog.

Designs are awesome.
Ohhhhh... but I can't get my eyes off of Kang peeling potatoes...

Also, 'what if' story behind them is amazing, too.

*is just slightly to blame*

Anyway, I really do like how their designs turned out.

Even having just Picky there would change Mother 3 drastically, but all of them together...

Thanks, I really like them too. :0
Yeah, it makes me wonder. Like, would Lucas have even been able to succeed?

I think so, but...it would have been much, much harder, not so much for Lucas, but for Picky. After all, we can see by Claus's example that, at least on some level, brainwashing can be reversed. Picky could probably pull something similar off with Tracy if he tried really, really hard. It would probably have to be something heroic sacrifice-esque to even manage, but I'm sure it's possible.

Lydia and Kang, though, would probably have to be beaten down - Picky, though he does develop a friendship with them, just doesn't know them or care for them on the same level that he does for Tracy.

As far as Lucas is concerned, I'm sure there would be some confliction, as he would be dealing with people that an "ally" had known in the past, somebody much harder for him to dehumanize and defeat. That aspect was only brought up a little in Mother 3 itself, with Mr. Brown being a generally nice guy and Isaac becoming a pigmask by the final chapter, despite the pigmasks' generally witty dialogue and lax personalities. One of the cornerstones of war, after all, is to dehumanize the enemy so that you feel no remorse as you fight against them. While Mother 3 did introduce this concept, and I'm sure it would effect the characters, it just wasn't brought up to the same level as it would have to be if the Commanding Quartet were involved.

It's a very complicated alternative universe, isn't it.
Thinking about it some now, I think Porky probably would brainwash Picky, because he still had that strong friendship with Tracy so he would have no reason to choose to go on his own otherwise.
In that case, it's seem to me they would be a force to reckon with, but probably would still be beaten. What exactly would happen I don't know.
But like you said earlier, that would be an interesting conflict if he wasn't brainwashed while the rest were.

So the issue then becomes whether or not Porky would brainwash Picky, too.

All logic says that he should - leaving his brother the same as before could lead to a scenario that ends in his defeat. And Pokey, among all the things he is, is not a total idiot.

But, at the same time, he clings irrationally to the past, even revering his past family (and friends, even?). Not just in the nostalgia room with the boat ride through all the artifacts of a game past that Pokey somehow kept for himself: there's the main equipable items one can buy for Lucas in New Pork City (the Fake Bat, an imitation of Ness' signature weapon, and the Red Hat, which is obvious. There's also the Fake Frying Pan, not that that matters nearly as much), the restaurant full of Lardna robots, the movie theatre that shows an endless loop of Ness, his comrades, and their adventure, even though it ended with Pokey and Giygas defeated. Pokey might leave Picky with his memory intact because, despite how twisted Pokey may be, Picky's his brother.

There's also the matter of Pokey's hubris - I'd imagine that Pokey would let Picky keep his memories just to prove to Picky that he was right, and that humanity would be better of destroyed.

And in that scenario, it would be that which would lead to his own destruction.

...Long post is long. this is what I get for being a Lit person.

Lit's my lifeblood, man!...or something. Maybe that's why I have comic ideas but lack the drive to consistently draw them.

But yeah - this was a super interesting conversation. MOTHER allows for so much fun discussion~

Thanks! ^^

but really, I'm so fantastically busy with RL stuff (Senior Year, college apps, etc.), that as much as I'd totally, absolutely love to start something up, I know I wouldn't be able to keep up with updating it.

The only reason I draw so much is 'cause I procrastinate something awful.

Writing, on the other hand... I'm in the Creative Writing conservatory at my school, so I actually have a lot of time for writing fanfics. ...Not that I write fic for any of my assignments.

Thanks! ^_______^ Good luck to you as well, with...whatever it is you're doing. ;D

But I really think I should write some good Mother fanfics. Too bad that not many people will read them. D:

I used to love that series.
But I don't really watch anime anymore. And sometimes they are just too long or get stupid or have too big a fanbase.

shiroandfubuki In reply to Maneshi [2009-10-04 01:37:20 +0000 UTC]

FMA's pretty good, at least in the Manga and 2nd anime departments. 1st anime gets a little bad sometimes, but the crowd's settled a bit.

But yeah, sometimes anime does get a bit...lackluster - it's all about finding the good stuff. I hang out with asian people all the time, so we tend to keep each-other in the loop of satisfactory material. ;D

(Then again, Japanese stuff is what I'm honestly, seriously in to - I'd like to teach english in Japan one day in the distant future if I can pull it off.)
