"I don't understand.. Why?? I don't deserve these wings!" Evening star shouted, his ears pressing back against his skull as he took a step back, his new wings flaring out from his outburst. The princesses, including his mother, had all gathered today and asked Evening to join them, however he had not been told why. Until his ascension. Though, much like his mother had been when she ascended, he was skeptical and didn't know what to think but for all different reasons.

"Because you have finally proven yourself to be worthy of your title of Prince. You showed the leadership among many other traits that your mother showed whenever she was your age. Now please, Evening Star. Calm down" Celestia stepped forward and placed her hoof on his shoulder, that of which the young stallion shrugged off and stepped back once again.

"What do you mean 'Leadership'? I.. Members of my team are /dead/ because of my inability to lead them out of danger!" Evening's voice cracked, his head ducking.

"The battle we all faced was very intense and yes, we lost some valuable soldiers.. But the ones that are still here now, do not blame you nor do they think ill of you. Instead, they believe if not for you, they would of perished as well. You kept them all safe as well as keeping your friends safe at the same time.." Luna trotted forward, her eyes sad, for she understood the conflicting emotions that Evening Star was feeling, she knew that he may lash out for a time because he was confused and upset, "Yes you have barely healed from the fight fully now, but because of you, your team members were not hurt nearly as badly as they could of been, they were the ones that discussed what type of reward you should receive for leading them and the rest of the soldiers before your father and Shining Armor could arrive to assist with the battle."

"But because of your leadership, Equestria is still here. Ponyville, Canterlot, Manehattian, you kept the fighting from spreading out farther by confronting the two of them before they were able to bring their own troops along to spread across Equestria.." Twilight finally spoke up, her head ducked in uncertainty because she had not seen her son behave this way before, she had always known mild-mannered, calm Evening Star who the most he had done to raise his voice, was simply speak louder so that one could hear him from a distance.

"But.. But I-.. I don't deserve this! I just did my duty, I didn't go above and beyond, I didn't earn these!" Evening looked to his wings, they were wide and sleek, shaped much like a falcon's rather than being softer and rounded like 'normal' alicorn wings. "I just.. Wait.. You all were just waiting for me to do something that you could pass off as a noble deed so that you could make me an alicorn because I'm royalty, because I'm my mother's son! Is that it?" Evening reeled back, his eyes growing wider in this accusation.

Twilight seemed to be speechless, not denying this fact, nor were the other rulers that stood at her sides.

"It's true.. Isn't it!?" Evening stamped his hoof, mentally thankful that this wasn't a crowded event done in front of many other ponies, rather than the remaining members of his team that stood behind him now.

"Evening I.. We.." Twilight hung her head, unsure what to say. "That isn't.. I mean.."

"Evening." A deep voice spoke up from behind him finally, causing the newly ascended alicorn to whip his head around quickly, met with the eyes of his second in command, Silver Shield. "We know you feel that this is undeserved of you, but you do deserve these wings of yours.. You saved our lives.. All of ours.. Yes.. Marble Leap, Wildheart and Valiant Gold are no longer with us.. But Winter Frost, Comet Arrow, Night Chaser, Lucky Star, Scarlet Lance... me, We're all still here.. And it's because of you.. Please. Don't be upset at them, or at us." The gray stallion put a hoof on his shoulder, much like Celestia had done a moment ago, but he wasn't thrown off immediately. Instead, Evening just let his head fall and shook it in a way his hair covered his eyes.

"I need to be alone.. I'll return when I've calmed down.." He mumbled, his voice unsteady.

The soldier looked to the princesses who nodded solemnly. "Alright.." Silver said softly, patting Evening between the wings, "Take the time you need, we will all be willing to speak when you come back"

Here is a little idea that has been fluttering around in my head lately. Mainly from the face that when I've thought of Evening lately, for some reason, I think of him as a pegasus. But then I remind myself that his magic is a big part of who he is, that it's shaped him into the stallion that he is now. But then the idea

Brain: what if he was an alicorn? Then he could be both!

noo, because what would he of done to be worthy of ascension?

Brain: Soley because he is royalty~

But then he wouldn't feel he deserved it, he wouldn't be happy for just be given this form just because his mother is Twilight

Brain: exactly! Angst for the horse son!

sooo i may make this canon, or i may just keep it as a fleshed out idea. Nonetheless, I quite like how he looks with wings, he doesn't look so scrawny anymore xD

and the 'two' that were menchoned before are to be kept a secret until i reveal it. Not all is good in EveVerse(that is what I'm planning on calling this verse, because hey, Eve for Eevee-in-the-sky and Eve for Evening. It works out!)

I will try to draw his team later on owo I have been watching attack on titan again, I kinda blame that xD
