I'm sorry, but after having this kind of thing go on lately,
I just had to make this meme.
Yeah, Lloyd's reaction is the exact same reaction I have whenever
I'm in the mood to read any fan fics on DA or Wattpad, and instead of
finding something of interest, all I see are stories meant to ship
the reader with a canon character.
Canon x OC, it depends for me, mainly if the canon character isn't out
of character and the OC isn't passed off as flawless.
But having a reader shipped with a canon character in a story, I can't
take that. I once tried it out and I didn't like it.
So yep, this meme was made XP
(No offense to anyone who does write those kind of stories, alright?
I just get sick of finding nothing else

I can take ships in fan fics, though there are some that I get displeased with
when a character I'm actually okay with is portrayed as an asshole and is
trying to rip apart that ship XP
(Yeah... speaking as someone who once tried those stories out, they get boring
so easily and lack good writing immensely.
Just... I don't recommend reading them. No offense to those who write them, but
they should've done a better job if they wanted me to actually read them again XP)

The same applies for me really
I do occasionally enjoy some xReader’s, but I can never find an xReader that truly represents me. Probably because I’m not... a badass or a sass master. XD

A lot of those stories are honestly just really
poorly written. And at this point, there are so many
of them, you can't find an actual story that is worth
a read.

But uhh... I have managed to find some fanfics for Ninjago that aren’t xReader’s if ya wanna see?
And I’ve also found this series on FanFiction.net about Ninjago that’s a speculative outlook on the events that played after Season 8. Like, the author made her own story out of what might’ve happened after the Ninja are teleported to the First Realm. Now there IS a ship between Cole and an OC, but honestly, I sorta found their relationship kinda cute because of how they warmed up to each other. It really brought out admirable factors in Cole’s personality.
The story goes really in depth and I could hardly stop myself from continuing. It’s called Heart of the Oni by Princess Keda ( I think? )

an OC, but honestly, I find it very overrated since so many
people go with it and only ship it to have Cole shipped

I did get really invested in the story though. I meant in depth with the ninjago characters’ backstories and personalities. Like, what might be going on in their head.
Or at least, that’s what I got from it.
I don’t know, I thought it was cool.
But yeah, I can understand your viewpoint.
I mean, it IS annoying like, cmon, I wanna see their friendship work at it’s finest.
But yeah...

because it’s pretty poorly written and kinda awkward
but I do respect to it

There seems to be a TON of these and honestly I don't find many good ones even if I tried looking. They're mostly bland, poorly written, and take cliche to the next level. I'd rather read a bare bones fantasy of a knight saving a princess than those stories because at least you can have fun, those stories aren't fun.

so often on both DA and Wattpad. I get so annoyed because I just want
to read a story with characters I love in a series, and all that ccomes up
is those character x reader stories.
Yeah. A lot of them are like that indeed. As someone who has improved in
writing over the years, I hate it when stories are overly bland and written
so poorly (whether or not they're character x reader stuff or not).
I agree. Even something basic like that is something more bearable than a
poorly written fan fic (whether self-insert shipping or not).
Hell, it's even more bearable of a romance story than one that romanticizes
abuse. I especially hate stories that have done that, and yeah, I've come across
some fan fictions that have done that to DX

Not to say all are bad, but I'm not a fan of OC x Canon Character when done poorly.
But if the character is...well "in character", then I'd be ok with it.
But sometimes, fans just strip away what makes the character themselves just to fit their ideals.

Oh, I get what you're saying. I've seen some pairings like that where the
canon character is NOTHING like who they really are in their series. I make
sure, as a person who has some canon x OC pairings in my stories, the
canon character isn't out of character with the OC, as well as the OC isn't
flawless.

And I will admit, I once tried it out when I first got here on DA, reading those
stories. I hated it because it was just poorly written, and I saw just how much
there were, so I became annoyed at it

I agree. And as someone who has improved with writing stories myself,
I can't take a story that looks like it was just randomly put together
and is poorly written (whether or not it's a character x reader story)
