Description It was 1987, my first marriage was falling apart and I was living in that creepy apartment under John's house.
I was also reading "The Exploration of the Universe" by George O. Abell. He spoke of a star, S Doradus, that was supposed to be the most luminous star known. It is in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small galaxy that orbits our galaxy.
Since I felt very far from home at that time, it was easy to muse on, "What if you were stranded on a frozen ice-planet near that star, and were looking back toward the Milky Way? How big would it look? What angle would you see it at?"
This is my best guess, but in reality the bright light on the ice would blind you to the faint light of the stars in the sky. Reality sucks. 1987
