I always wondered if, in comics, he actually had half of his body really deformed under his clothes too, even though the acid only was supposed to hit his face originally.

Yeah, they don't write him that way but I thought it would be a cool way to represent him. That and I thought it would be neat that it was a little disproportionate than his "normal" side.
