I've been wandering around the multiverse for months, now. All at the behest of the shadowy demon in my head. Telling me to go here, kill this, go there, kill that. All to make me stronger. All to prepare me for the day of The Shattering. I've met many strange versions of me and others. Those who have survived a nuclear apocalypse. Those who sail on the open seas. Those horribly corrupted with blackened eyes, just like me. But this one was...different. There was nothing. No plumbers. No Meggy. No cyborgs. Just a void of zeroes and ones, and another me. One befallen to the monster who took Axol from me. Corrupted by some other creature and used as their glorified puppet. I...felt sympathy for her, in a way. It's a path we've both walked.

But I knew why I was here. And so did she.

...She did not fight back.

Well I wasn't expecting this to become one of my usual fillibusters. This was made eons ago and I just uploaded it now 'cause I thought it looked hella cool. But I guess that's just how it goes, sometimes.

I suppose I should discuss the elephant in the room; this is the first pic I've uploaded since DeviantART announced its plans for the "Dream Up" AI Art Generation program. It has left the community furious and all I can say is this; I am very, very disappointed in DeviantART. Mainly the higher-ups. It's usually their call and the guys in development are generally the ones who have to go through with adding it, AND taking the shit for it. But having the system be opt-IN by default with an obvious "too much of a faff, not gonna do it" op-out form...yeah. People don't like being roped into having their art stolen by an AI to churn out the real life equivelant of Crazy Redd's fake paintings just so they can turn a profit. Whodathunk?! At least they changed THAT real quick.

I actually tolerate the idea of AI art...but as an assistant tool to generate the image so you can get within the ballpark of what you want it to look like BEFORE you draw it yourself. It should NEVER be used to replace the artist in the equation, and that is exactly what all this AI bollocks is currently doing. It's no better than the EnEfTe crap, just tons and tons of soulless mush kludged together to make some money before the bubble bursts...again. And the worst thing? The results don't even LOOK good! I've actually seen some of what this supposed AI is churning out, and it looks awful. Everything looks uncanny, there are glaring faults in very obvious places and it all lacks detail. It reminds me a lot of the CGI used in kids movies, that ugly smoothness, that sanitised output for the lowest common denomimator. I still think AI Art has a place in this community, but god not like THIS. And the fact that DA set this up AFTER a universally-applauded MonkeyJpeg Detector AND while Twitter was in meltdown due to the Muskening? I'd say poor timing but they shouldn't have done this at ALL!

Sorry for the rant, had to get it out there and Twitter is...well, yeah. A lot of big grown up artists have left with smug waves and cheerios and all I can say is, "good for you...you smug twat". 'Cause I've got nowhere to go, unlike you. And a lot of people are in the same boat. We've been on this site for decades now. And the thought of starting again, knee-deep in the middle of two massive story arcs is...terrifying, to put it bluntly. But I suppose it was a mistake to put all those eggs in one basket so in 2023 and on I'm probably going to start looking at other avenues. As you probably know now, I have a Tumblr! I can only hope THAT doesn't backfire on me too. But if other startups appear and look promising, I guess I'll give it a go. I know I have a Pillowfort account...that I keep forgetting the password to, oops. I'll put a link to the Tumblr down below, and add it to my profile.

So yeah, sorry for all that, at least it wasn't another rant about SMG4, eh? TBH I don't even care about that anymore. I've pushed too many people away. So for now, I'm just done.
