Master...what a fucking name for an OC! I should've just called him "GOD" or something. He had the .exe eyes, for fuck's sake!

Still, Master was in need of a redesign anyway. He's scored pretty high on every Mary Sue OC test I've put him in, and for good reason; he can shrug off almost any attack (granted, a good portion of the official cast can do that too), he uses guns, he can fly in short bursts, he has a possessed weapon, I've been focusing too much on him, he can fire lasers, beams, bolts and so on. Not to mention that, well, he's called Master.

So I decided to rename him. To Traveller. 'Cause, you know, that's just so much better. Well, better than Master, anyway. At least Traveller better fits him as a multiverse vigilante and at least suggests he had some weaknesses. But I was looking at his design and...well, it just wouldn't be the character I wanted him to be. So I asked the one guy who'd actually care enough to help me; . Old Franky-Boy designed three new designs for me to use, bless him, and said I could edit and use them as ever I wanted; fav.me/d91qau0 Only problem was PICKING one.

So here's what I'm going to do; after Freedom Dies With Me reaches its conclusion, I will take a lot of the focus off of Master, maybe refocus on Lowell and especially Nikolai. Maybe some actual Sonic stuff too. Regardless, I'm going to make sure Master/Traveller won't be appearing in any future works for a while. So for now, I'll show off the three possible fates for the character, and see which is the most popular by the end of FDWM.

Oh yeah, and all of these fates take place AFTER Freedom Dies With Me, so he'll still be Master within the story, maybe you'll get a glimpse of his fate after the story. Got it? Here we go;

A: The Blue Hood
This would be Master's fate if he eventually embraced what was left of War Master in his soul, falling back into a sense of insanity
Real Name: Traveller
Species: MasterSelf
Bio:
After the events on Planet Avalice, Master spent a good while in exile, training in secret as his mental state only got less and less stable. It wasn't soon after where Master finally relented and succumbed to the remains of War Master in his soul. He collapsed in the middle of a forest and was taken in by The Trickster, an old enemy that had fallen out of relevance due to War Master himself.
The Trickster managed to awaken him and, in his delirious state, tricked him into believing that Master worked for him. He agreed and trained under The Trickster, learning new attacks and using new gear to devastating effect.
When the Trickster came across an attempt to reboot a previously wiped part of another universe's timeline*, he saw it as an opportunity to take over and rule with an iron fist. Seeing as local hero Sonic the Hedgehog was in the area, The Trickster sent Traveller in as "The Blue Hood", a vigilante designed to ruin Sonic's reputation once and for all.
Personality: Even though he fell back to the levels of War Master, Traveller inhibits a twisted version of the twisted version of War Master's personality. He is often calm and stoic, looking only to go off and kill, but getting on his bad side is more than enough to send him into a rage, brutally attacking everything within a mile radius. It takes a lot to calm him down after that. He is also no longer a loner, albeit only by choice, and follows The Trickster's orders to the letter, which is actually his undoing due to Trickster's overuse of intentionally vague purple prose.
Powers: Traveller is unchanged from Master's original powers; he can use Master Flame, Master Shock, Master Shield, Master Needle and Master Ball, albeit charged up to devastating levels. He still uses the Blade of Hysteria and his Desert Eagle handgun, which mostly have not changed in terms of use and skill.
Quote: "Just more scum to eradicate. A world rid of these people is better than one where you and you alone are the hero, hedgehog. Look inside yourself and tell me I'm wrong..."

B: The Hipster
This would be Master's fate if he managed to dispose of The Blade of Hysteria and redeem himself
Real Name: Markus T. Basset (or at least he claims)
Species: Hedgehog/MasterSelf
Bio:
After the events on Planet Avalice, Master finally lost what little hope he had left for his redemption and finally sought to rid himself of the infernal Blade. Triggering the Blade to self-destruct, he threw it down into the Mystic Caves below the city, hoping the thick rocks below would help reduce the impact of the explosion.
However, Master had forgot that the Blade could easily return to him on a moment's notice, which it did. The weapon exploded, destroying the blade itself and somehow killing the spirit inside of it once and for all. Master managed to survive the explosion, but it left him catatonic and gravely injured.
He was taken to the nearest hospital and, with the help of his girlfriend, made a good recovery. While his memory was initially wiped and his Master Powers burned out from the explosion, he eventually managed to re-train in using Master Powers, but only to help others. He did regain his memories in some manner, remembering them as tall tales he would tell to strangers and friends alike when asked. He currently lives in a small house with his girlfriend on the borders of a large city, helping its people out however he can.
Personality: Traveller, or Markus, is a rather timid person at heart, lacking a good deal of the suicidal courage that Master used to have. While he styles himself as a pacifist, he is often quick to attack if someone he cares for is threatened, one of the few parts of Master that remained in some manner. He is jovial, witty and polite to everyone but the nastiest of people, and is willing to help out in any way possible.
Powers: As mentioned above, his powers burned out to help survive the explosion, but has retrained in some of them. He can preform Master Flame and Master Needle, albeit poorly.
Quote: "Want to hear those stories, do you? Fair enough. Come, sit by the fireplace, and I will tell you the stories...nay, the Tales of the Traveller."

C: The Detective
This would be Master's fate if was killed in some manner, hence the lack of stitching around his muzzle
Real Name: The Traveller
Species: Hedgehog/Cyborg/Clone
Bio:
After the events on Planet Avalice, Master spent a good while in exile, training in secret as his mental state only got less and less stable. After a month, he joined up with a roving pack of mercenaries led by an old friend of his called The Remarkables, hoping to leave his past behind him before it ate him up.
During one of The Remarkables more frantic battles, he was forced into doing battle with a copy of himself from another universe that had embraced the insanity (see Figure A). Knowing that he would soon follow the same path, he defeated his duplicate, sent him back to his own universe and rigged the opposition's base of operations to explode, taking them out and him alongside them. Despite desperate pleas from the others, Master set the bombs off anyway, killing them and himself.
But that was not the end of the story. An unknown third party, rumoured to be headed by a rarely seen bounty hunter, gathered up what was left of him and used those pieces to clone another Master. But this one would be different, rewired mentally to serve only the third party, acting as their own bounty hunter, taking out opposition without mercy and without emotion.
Personality: Out of the three, The Traveller is considered to emote the least out of them, to the point that he barely has any emotions, only a sense of duty that must be fulfilled no matter what. He is cold and calculative, able to easily deduce where an enemy may be at any point based soley on subtle hints in their space of residence.
Powers: No longer a MasterSelf, The Traveller is unable to properly activate any Master Powers, instead opting for various types of machinery built into his body to replicate their powers. Instead, he puts most of his strength into using a standard M1911A1 pistol and katana to decimate his foes in short order. The Blade of Hysteria is no longer in his posession, taken and used instead by a rookie member of The Remarkables.
Quote: "Target 1: Sonic T. Hedgehog. Directive: Exterminate."

Not that any of this matters. I can try to improve my characters all I want, but your average slack-jawed folksperson will just point to a Parody-Sue or some awful "character" like Akai or Sonichu and say, "This is what ALL Sonic the Hedgehog OCs are like! The Internet told me so!" So why the fuck do I bother? Because I care about Sonic. About its work, and about my childhood from that work. And if the company that owns it won't do anything even remotely worthwhile, I will. And so should you. So please, make up your own characters and stories and have some fun! Because trust me, the Sonic franchise is going nowhere anytime soon.
