Description A minor milestone, I finally got around to working on the mesh object part of my software render and got it to support more than one mesh (still hard coded tho' ). Next bit is to make it a dynamic list, just have to wrap my head around a pointer to a pointer list of pointers.

The planet surface is a mesh generated with a shaped noise function and the texture is a basic Perlin noise function. Perlin noise has a very distinct look, so to avoid that some transformations was done first to obfuscate that a bit.

The lifeform mesh was done in TopMod and is covered with yet a new multiple layers and textures material, the pattern is the result of some spectral rendering I'm working on (still not completely done, but I stumbled upon this pattern I just had to put to use ) which includes wavelength shifting as well.

I might have overdone the pattern on the lifeform a bit as the edge bumps on it get obscured. It isn't a MΓΆbius surface despite the twisting (even number of twists in the surface node loop), but for a challenge try and see how the bumped edge span the lifeform.

This render is also another step away from binary range values (e.i. everything is from zero to one) and towards more realistic values (HDRI).

Enjoy.

In the thumb, I thought it was a bracelet. I'd like a bracelet like that one

If I ever get a 3D printer I'll make you one.

Although I'm not sure how comfortable it will be to wear.

Sort of what I was going for, and the strangeness of the tentacles on an octopus.
