Alice in Wonderland (not just Disney’s version) is my favorite fairytale of all time! I couldn’t wait to add her to this modern collection. Alice, along with Peter Pan, I pictured to be the most “hipster-ish” of anyone else in this collection. That’s why I released them together rather than Peter with Wendy. Their styles fit together better. I pictured the young Alice as a British girl who has come to America to study abroad. (Sound familiar, a young girl in a strange place far from home?) Maybe take study music at Juilliard or Painting at The Academy of Art University in California. She always wants to remember home so she keeps her London scarf tied on her purse. Alice in Wonderland is a very dark story so I made her outfit rather dark to show that, though she has details that show her light, cheery, innocent side as well. When I think of Wonderland I think of mixing patterns and prints. I just had to give her polka dots and to make the shirt more interesting I made it a white rose pattern. (I hope you understand why.) And as a “hat tip” to that Mad Hatter, I gave her a hat. Her belt is designed after her signature bow.
