It was the last and final days of the 80's:

My best friend and I would brave the bus routes. Leaving the peaceful and stupendously boring suburbs behind and travel far to the slightly less boring mall.
The mall had a dollar theater. But usually there wasn't much playing. And really, how many times can you see TMNT 1 and Predator 2.
So, usually, we'd walk from the mall to Comics Utah.
I had a budget of 3 dollars. One dollar for the bus both ways. One dollar for a comic. And one dollar for a suicide big gulp. For the uninitiated a suicide is where you pure all the offerings in the soda bar into one glass and drink it.
I bought my usual X-Men. But my best friend had something different, something I'd never seen before. That was the first time I'd ever seen Groo the Wanderer.
From that day forth we'd read Groo while waiting for the bus to come and take us back home. It was way funny.
