Description
Played around with materials and lighting in 3D Studio Max. Modeling the emeralds was fun!Enjoy.

Did you just use mental ray or technique did you use in the transparency of the jewels? I haven't tried it yet but I would guess to use mental ray (I use Maya).

Back when I made this, I believe I used Vray. I then turned up the refraction(which gives it the glassy/transparent look), and cranked the reflection/highlights. I then turned on caustics so the glass color would shine onto the floor.

Would you happen to know much about lights such as is there a limit? I can only have 8 lights run at a time. The others don't work even though selected and apparently my scene requires at least 9 lights per character.

It was pretty simple to make. Just a bunch of basic shapes with a light casting down on them.

Nope. That'll take years of training. An emerald is easy to make, it's a very basic shape. Human bodies are extremely complex and involve lots of hard work and dedication to model... not to mention lots of practice and training.
