To be read: "JESUS doesn't hate us... You do!"[link]
I believe completely in Jesus. He was a figurative angel, to my eyes, and an amazing person, the likes of which the world has quite possibly seen since. I would not ever talk disrespectfully of him. I would not be suprised if his name was the last to pass my lips when I die. My faith in Jesus is under no, and I repeat, NO question. and I will explain why, if you don't mind:
One says he healed cripples, and saved us all from our sins, and all that... but we cannot prove it. We can't say "here are the facts, you can review them in the laboritory and they will be consistent." But there ARE other facts:
He died on the cross for all his believers. (fact: you can check the roman accounts)
Since his Life and Death, people have been whispering his name, as a prayer by itself, when they were in great need. I can not fathom how many soldiors and warriors and knights etc. have died with his name on their lips... their last hope: Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
How many people have been close to dying of hunger, have found faith with jesus, and have stood up, bringing their family to happiness again, instead of killing themselves in their times of despair? How many families have been saved by parishes that decided to work together to give them what they needed to live on? How many THOUSANDS of things have been done in Jesus' name? It is WONDERFUL! Beautiful, to my eyes.
But it is his name. Not Jesus. Jesus does not walk among us. He doesn't lay his hand on the back of ours to help us not to steal when we are just itching to take 'just that one small little thing'. It is his memory that helps us. We think of that one figure who died for us nearly two thousand years ago... Who told us to live in peace with each other. To love each other. Not like the hippies, with lots of drugs, sex and laughter. Not necessarily love, but respect each other. Jesus did not want us to steal. He didn't want us to lie. He protected the prostitute, though leviticus quite clearly states that they are to be killed. Jesus shows us that we no longer have to hate or kill people just because it was right 4000 years ago. He updates the old testament so to speak.
Now tell me: Those miracles, those small unlikelihoods that brighten our lives every so often. Do they come from God? The fact that you didn't miss your train because it was leaving late... Did god make it stay those two minutes longer? No. But maybe... just maybe, the traindriver stayed in the station just two minutes longer that day... because he wanted to give latecomers a chance. Maybe it was just chance. But Jesus? Jesus was the icon, the figure that gives half of us the little motivation needed to be the girl standing with her foot in the door, stopping the train from leaving because she saw you coming.
Jesus means love. Jesus died for us to love and respect each other. If you hate, you will not disappoint Jesus. He won't know. But you will, and you will be scorning the reason for his death.
disclaimer: This text is thought to be compatible with... strong believers as well. They are my thoughts on Jesus, as a person. I hate what the old testament says, and do not agree with all of the new testament. I HATE people who use Jesus as a reason to hurt anybody.
People who use a book thousands of years old to justify hurting Gays is rediculous, and I believe people who blindly hate deserve the death sentence more than a murderer. As long as the murderer wasn't sadistic. I hate sadists.

Huh? I can't even read it.
Also, saying the bible is proof of Jesus, that's equal to saying the Harry Potter series is proof that Hogworts exists.

Jesus Christ is our Savior. He has unconditional love for all of His brothers and sisters, whether or not they believe that He is the Begotten Son of God or seek His Atonement.
Because of His love for us, He's outlined how we can progress to be with Him and have the same joy that He has. That outline if His Gospel. Through it, we learn that certain things will hold us back and, in the long run of mortality and eternity, bring us only a temporary illusion of joy.
Sexual promiscuity and relations with others outside the bond of marriage are some of the most dangerous, and some of the most well-masked by Satan as something that brings joy. Our gift and commandment, to replenish the Earth, is a sacred privilege that He helps us to safeguard through the institution of marriage, in which a son and a daughter of God promise to give of themselves to each other, and to dedicate themselves to nurturing and raising children in love and righteousness.

You know that thing that happens when you read legal or religious text and you notice how you start skipping whole paragraphs out of self defence? That just happened. Im *really* sorry, but I tried to read what you wrote 4 times now, and just cant get myself to care enough about your passive aggressive perspective to actually answer to anything you just said. I feel like this Deviation is worth clicking on a little less due to your comment beneath it.. again: I dont mean to hurt you, that is just the way I feel about your message, and i dont have the energy to not tell you.

You obviously fail to understand my point. have you noticed these three main facts about my opinion?:
1) A man called Jesus lived, and was excecuted. that is fact. we have roman documents. I cannot deny his existence.
2) Jesus was NOT the son of God.
3) The NAME Jesus STILL gives thousands of people hope in bad times.

Don't mention it. The position you have presented is impressive, but I'd like to add my own as well. Jesus may not be with us physically, but he left us the gift of The Holy Spirit. I HAVE seen physical healing brought about by this Spirit today, working through people who had faith that God would use them as vessels to do His work. Not everyone is called to do this though, and not everyone who receives prayer for physical ailments gets healed. As for the Bible, Jesus himself said that if you followed him none of the old laws were applicable anymore. But ultimately the Bible was never meant to be the end all answer to everything, it was a brief guidebook to help us along the way. Too many Christians overlook that. Jesus also said that loving and serving God the Father was far more important than following any standardized set of rules. Ultimately it is Jesus who decides who is "worthy" of a relationship with him, not rules in a book. And Jesus turns no one away. "Come as you are," he said. And he meant it.

aye, and you, a Mystic, speak these words?
Your words do not differ too much from what I say, though I do not believe in Miracles. I believe in the ability urban legends have to morph something into something amazing, and more than anything else, I believe in human beings ability to fantasize.

What's a miracle? It is merely how humans comprehend the interaction between the natural and the supernatural. I don't believe in a passive God, if God were truly passive there'd be no point for Him to exist. If nothing I say changes your thinking on the issue, I suppose I can live with that. I'm not here to "preach". I do believe in supernatural forces which constantly interact with the natural world. I've seen too many things in my life not to. I'm okay with my beliefs on the matter not making much sense to you, my beliefs are pretty controversial for most Christians, and tend to seem "crazy" to everyone else. A "miracle" only appears so to us because we cannot fully comprehend the forces behind it. I could say more but I'd only be repeating myself in an endless cycle. This is a subject I am very passionate about.

*laughs* so I see.
Let us not enter a cycle then: I will not repeat that I do not believe in miracles, I will simply point out that I have never seen something that is not explainable.
I have seen many great coincidences, things that made the day, or week, or even month so much better, simply by having seen it, but unexplainable? no. The probability of finding a note after just having realized one has lost ones lunch money for the month is not very likely, but if you think about the thousands of times it Doesn't happen, and how often people loose their lunch money, it is quite probable that it should happen every now and again. Somebody pushing me onto the road just before a car came, by which the car stopped dead 5 meters before me, just as a small child runs out in front of it wheels, and would surely have died if the car had not stopped for me, that also isn't a miracle. It is obvious how it happened. the chances of it are low, but surely you will not say that an angel caused the thug to push me which caused me to fall which caused the car to stop, which caused the survival of the child?

Your approach is a bit too rationalist for me. I've never been a fan of that approach. I've a great love for logic, but there are times when logic fails. Plus, logic, like any other system of thinking, has its flaws. It can be useful, but it can also be used in harmful ways. However, I don't feel that your use of logic, in this case, is particularly harmful. I only mention this because I've known people who were logical to a fault, a trait which impeded their relations with others. You don't strike me as such a person. I think we have merely reached an impasse in our discussion. You still interest me as a person, but I don't see either one of us taking much away from this debate.

Then less us follow a tangent: where can logic not prevail? where is it not logical to do the right thing, or where/when can it be harmful?

Pure logic leaves no room for compassion. Read Johnathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" to see what he had to say about human reason. I would also recommend his "A Modest Proposal", both were written as satires. Pure logic has no imagination. Pure logic tends to stagnate. Logic without imagination is useless. I knew a girl who was so bent on seeing reason that she was incredibly derisive to anyone who tried to argue with her. She preached of respecting others but could not practice it. This led to a falling out between us. Logic is also far too stubborn for its own good at times. And it can easily be tripped up. It is also very subjective to whatever seems logical to the person using the logic. I will not deny that there are many things for which logic is completely objective, but I have also seen countless examples of logic's subjectivity. As a rule, I always go by this line of thinking: "Definitions and used cars are alike in one way: the closer you look, the more flaws you find." This is taken from a textbook on English Grammar but is applicable to many situations. Of course, science uses logic, but there are many things science does not know, either for certain, or at all. The best example is that the scientist community as a whole can only account for 1/3 of the mass of the universe. The remaining 2/3 remains unaccounted for. You can rely on pure logic if you want, but I find that logic kept by itself is incredibly unreliable.

okay... does your father shave? if he does, present him with... what is it... leviticus 19 something... it speaks against trimming ones beard. only a couple of lines after not lying with other men. also, Jesus speaks of love, and he protects prostetutes. If he protects those that go against leviticus, then surely he protects gays as well. and if they answer that he protects maria(the prostetute) because she repents, then they are wrong: he protects her because they were going to stone her. and killing is evil. He spreads the word of love. And he loves his deciples. Also, no line in the bible EVER says anything against two women... so yeah. hope that helps
