Description Another shot done messing about with multiple exposure blending. Each shot has been taken at the same aperture (obviously) but at different shutter speeds for movement effects but playing around with the iso on the 5D Mark II from 50 all the way to 1600.

15 images were taken for various events that happened when I was there and I then selected the best three and blended them in this shot. The sky was the longest at 2 minutes for beautiful cloud movement. The center waves at 1.6 sec and the bottom waves over the rocks at 1.3 sec.

With shooting like this you do look at blending in more images ie for water pouring off other rocks but if it dosent work, it dosent work. The whole idea is to make the best shot, not with how many images you can blend into it.

Great effect. I'm a real sucker for the white mist effect of moving water, but I think that the moving sky and interesting rock in the foreground here add a lot of interest to this one.

This is truly beautiful mate, I really like the longer exposure for the sky, this has inspired me to try some more in this way for future waterscapes, and landscapes. Just wondering what the difference between the ISO's are for this as it says in the EXIF 1600 for this, never tried shooting this high for this type of photography.

ISO range was 100 to 1600iso. High ISO like this on the 5D Mk II is excellent.

I see, I wouldn't know, but it looks like you're right.

You have had a wonderful idea to use the exposure blending...you have inspired me a lot
As you can see in my gallery, I use a lot the HDR technique, but I never have used the exposure blending.
What software do you have used? Photoshop or something else?
I use always Photomatix Pro for my HDR

Thanks for the kind comments. The exposure blending isnt HDR, but it does give you a wide dynamic range. This is shutter blending where you blend images with different shutter speeds. All I use is Photoshop CS3 and layers to do all the blending.

Really interesting technique, I should give it a go. Do you just take 3 shots of the same spot and blend them with slightly different exposures?

Yep it is that easy Drew, just use the Auto Exposure Bracket in your camera and I set my 5D to a 2 sec timer and it will take all three shots saves you pushing the remote or shutter button three times. Works a treat. I usually only do a 1 and -1 EV change.

Wasn't much happening down the beach this afternoon, no clouds and very few waves, I'll have to try another time. Do you by any chance have a waterproof housing for your camera? I'm working so I can afford one

The technique work great on high tide as you get a lot of movement and waves. No underwater housing as yet, but I am saving up for one as we speak.

Awesome capture(s)
This also works great in square format cropping the bottom of the pic.
