Description
I started this one as a VUE test. Next thing I know I was caught up in this personal project for 3 weeksThe driving force behind this work is the idea that we are not alone in the universe. After all, it would be a terrible waste of space right? So I envisioned the exploring mission of some advanced civilization having first contact with a primitive new world.
I wanted to remove one cliff in the back in order to kill the simetry but I thought it looks cool though.
Render took almost 15 hours at 4000 pixels wide and ultra settings. I painted over in photoshop, keeping the actual VUE shape for a future camera projection.
The spaceship is made in max, with some heavy paintover in PS.
Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it

If this was virtual reality or made into a 3d system, I would so love it...Amazing work.

Your detail work is absolutely brilliant (as is the overall masterpiece, of course), and altogether....wow. Just wow...stunning.

"I don't think posting the massive one is a good idea, otherwise people can just save the picture and make their own prints."
and why not? I don't need to sell my personal work.
Download it, print it, do whatever you wish, as long as you keep the copyright

That is exactly the problem, in the high ress, it is just few clicks and you can remove your signature, and then make it smaller and show it as your own work. Trust me, people do this if they can unfortunetly...

Thats Huuuge !, I don't think posting the massive one is a good idea, otherwise people can just save the picture and make their own prints.
I love the ecosystem...Made me wish I got Infiite instead of Pro Studio as mine can't paint ecosystems...But that was the best I could afford I suppose I could try the variable density to get the patches of trees and empty grass you got here.

very cool, nice composition and execution, that ship reminds me so much of the Geth transports from the game mass effect, i think its just the shape and the head thing.

haha didn't know that, thanks Gucken
oh well, it's for free then gotta see how to solve the problem.
admeister8, it's pretty simple to visualize the shape in 3D, you play with the volumes till you get what you like, then get into details

this is a freaking awesome artwork! the scene composition came out well, and the spaceship is so unique. how did you conceptualise its shape?
