Part of the headcanon,Here's a scene I would imagine happened after Warp "dies" which on top of hitting the rangers hard, reminds Nebula of his old partner's untimely "death" as well.
In the headcanon Zurg's "death" is a genuine accident, a malfunctioning ship crash where he is presumed dead and it's not investigated further.
