Hello there Mira, how you going over there? They really get to you these little and not so little guys & girls.
We got a little female in the other day. Bout 2.8kgs. Called her Ruth from the lady her found her. Sad Story they were driving home and found her dead mother on the road so they stopped to check and found little Ruthy trying to get back into mothers pouch. Break your heart.
She is doing well eating and drinking as she should be. will get some pics soon she is still rather shy. She came out of her little pouch last nite for a play and look around. She has one hell of a bite mind you.

Not only that we also got 2 bigger females yesterday also, there about 25kgs and will be ready for release soon we hope. Although we have doubts about 1 of them for she is still a bit humanly attached. She was also getting a touch up from the other female who is obviously the dominant one. This is what happens when uneducated " carers " raise together in the same pen . This a big no-no in our books.
The Dominant one who will still have to name, she screams the house down so we think at this stage will be a better release. Hey ,you dont mind if i call her Mira do you??
So now there are 14 in care. There are a couple that cant be released. Theres Dawn, i pikd her up on the side of the road bout 1.30 in the morning. She was pretty under weight , shaggy looking few attack marks but nothin serious.
She also looked pretty old. Very slow moving ,teeth look aged, say she had Toxo at some point for she appears not to be the full quid. So she is , just one big sweet heart. Loves a good rub on the backside and around the ears.
We got Blindboy, he has no eyes. Got the eye slits but nothin to see with. He was found wandering on the side of the road going to who the hell knows.
How he survived is beyond me. But i tell you what., other than that he still does all the wombat things. He will still have a good old chat at the fence when the wild locals venture through. Hes a funny boy.
Then theres Soldier! His story was the other carers, who havent got a clue, have a policy of releasing around 12- 15ish kgs. And we think was raised together with another male. Way to small so what happenes, he gets attacked. They trap him ,patch him up for a couple a month or 2 and release him again ,same weight same release site.
Low and behold same thing happens. They repeat the process, release again and eventually they never see him again. UNTIL.... he attacks a little old lady!
What the #@*% you may be thinking... what happened was the property where they released him was on this little old ladies land, ok so what.. well she was feeding another male which was released there earlier in the year and came to the house at nite where she'd have some tucker waiting for him.
Also he to didnt mind a pat now and again, and this is where the wheels fall off the wagon.....The smell left on her from this wombat got the attention of soldier for now he was snooping around a nite and obviously knew that other wombat had been around also. So , one evening
.....hang on getting writers cramp...have a break for a bit....

Glad your ok Mira. You said you came back from Excavating in France, what were you digging up over there? Do you do that often?
Ireland should be good lookin forward to some pics.
If you miss Australia so much pak ya bags n get your backside over ere.! Easier said then done i know.
Yes little Ruth she is a cutie. Also got another youngin in yesterday. Bout same size, little boy his story another sad one, as most are.
When people found him he was trying to get back into mummas pouch also, BUT she had been there long enough that she was decomposing!
Not only that the little fella had be attacked from we think, another wombat by the look of the scars on him, so even after being attacked he was still trying to stay with mum for protection. Lucky boy to survive so long after mum died. Just goes to show you how bonding they get with mum. Another heart breaking story.
