A massive fellow! What a fulfilling lifestyle to be around such creatures! I look forward to more.

He is impressive, you can actually go up to him and give him a scratch. They love getting there hind quarters , or the back of there ears rubbed.Mind you this is not supposed to happen but because he's not the full quid you can do this on most occasions.
On the odd occasion, he will actually act like a wombat and challenge you to a wrestling match.

I would not have imagined a wombat being so open to interaction like that. That is truly something special! The one that I did have a chance to meet did not seem to enjoy much contact; He seemed to be irritated by it. Consequently I was advised not to pet him.
Oh now that you say wrestling match, I'm glad I heeded the advise mentioned above!

Indeed ,the advise given was correct ,they are a wild animal after all.
They are quiet affectionate and playful when they are young but when they get to a curtain age we must start to de-humanise them, otherwise they have no chance in the wild.
Where did you get the chance to see one?

I see. So that's why it's rare that this fellow is still sociable?
It was actually during a visit in San Diego, California. The zookeepers there had one of them out of the exhibit with them. It was only for a few minutes that my family and I could experience a closer look at him. He seemed fine with the zookeepers and us (We'd not attempted to touch him or anything), but as more people got around they eventually decided that the little guy needed to go back into the exhibit.

Yes they did the right thing there. They stress very easily and bond only to a few. Im glad you got the chance to see one . If your ever in OZ look us up, you can come see them close up.
