I'm lazy, so I cheat!
I'm using Photoshop templates downloaded from dA and made by Zombiesmile

Oh well - CHEAT LOL - Nah I was thinking you had a really cool way of doing that and I was going to throw Comic Life 3 away
It is a nice collection of speech bubbles however
Her tutorial on doing speech bubbles is also pretty darn nice.

Yes. I did download both the tutorial and the bubbles quite a while ago but never really used them until now (perhaps maybe save for one image I did a while ago). Still I have a Wacom tablet so I should be able to draw my own, but as I said - I'm lazy

Why do you think I have comic life lazy :
I can do photoshop speech bubbles but they were taking to much time away from rendering
In saying that comic life is now having serious issues with positioning of text instead the bubbles so I am very close to going back to photoshop
Wish there was a really good tool for speech bubble creation.

As I said, this commission is my first 'true' comic work so right now the Photoshop template with the bubbles is practically more than enough

nice entry in comic work Make me jealous
Have to ask about commissions to you later - I am ... nervous about doing it myself and... well... I need to make money but I am so scared of failing or letting people down.
Anyway - hope to see more - this looks awesome!!

Heh.. I'm in this niche (mannequin and doll TFs) since... well... long time... Long time like since 1997... Damn... it makes me feel sooooo old... Anyway... Since then, this is my 2nd commission work...
I think that if you are honest, friendly and communicate with the client then it should be all right.
And since this 2nd commission was apparently a success I'm already in a preparation stage for next one. Basically sort of a part 2 of this sequence showing the story of Lin, who gave Dee Dee the lotion...

neat
I suppose it also comes down to having faith in yourself (something I lack )

I was quite scared myself when I took the first commission order... I'd say try it once and then you will see if it suits you.

True - very true... and you might be right... I am just concerned on things I don't know (lighting being one of them.... and custom texturing etc)
When I look at the likes of your work - I feel pretty inadequate to charge.

I disagree, each artist has his own style and/or works on different topics.
When I look at some other works of other artists here around dA, I feel like a lowlife maggot with no skills whatsoever compared to them...
As for lighting - that was one of the biggest show stoppers for me in past as well... Mainly because I was using the default rendering engine of DAZ and that basically cheats with lights and so setting lights in a scene was very difficult and often against the logic of how light behaves.
Then I got Octane and suddenly light started to behave as light. I'm not saying that it is easy to set the lights right even with Octane, but at least the light now behaves in a physically expected way.

The light thing is pissing me off in DA to be honest - one of the things I liked about Poser is the lighting was easier to control. In DA it seems insanily hard to get the lighting I want. Indoor seems to be easier - but outdoor is just insane, and I have some of the lighting sets from DAZ3d.
And your work is far from lowlife

I think both Poser and DAZ lights are odd behaving (as neither Firefly (Poser) or 3delight (DAZ) are not unbiased renderers). Of course now with iray it should be a little different but still the workflow with iray is odd and although it is free I'm not switching to it... Well, at least until there is still chance that the Octane Plugin for DAZ will still be developed and at least occasionally updated/bugfixed.

There is still a lot of people who will be wanting to use Octane - so doubt that will stop any time soon.
Same as there are a lot of people who like Lux (because they have other things to do with their lives while it renders )
Agree Poser lights are odd - they are biased - however they seem to colour the model as you expect. I probably just need a lot more practice with 3delight - though - I am starting to think my comics will in the future start using IRAY for all renders and then I will still try comic book over that... maybe see how it looks

I would say if you have the GPU for it, don't bother with 3delight. But I'm addicted to GPU rendering

Yeah I am thinking of it - have got the lighting for 3delight working right now but I am really thinking on the next comic section I am going to move to IRAY only

The problem I see with IRAY is the material database (or lack thereof). It seems that DAZ is planning to make this their milking cow and charge customers for material setups and shaders. Octane charges you for the license and the plugin, but for that price you get an instant access to the LiveDB containing huge number of high quality material mixes and they are all open so you can use them as a base for building your own in a very quick, simple and straightforward way. The material workflow of Octane and basically the entire workflow in the Octane DAZ plugin got me sold immediately. I have the Octane plugin for Poser as well and DAZ version beats it hands down.
But yeah... IRAY is free so it is a major 'selling' point.

Well I would have gone Octane myself - but 379.00 € - that is over 600nz New Zealand - that is pretty pricey.
