It's a pretty good tutorial. I might use it. I like the last one of course.

? for you. Do you redraw the line after all the color or do you just color without redrawing the outline. I redraw the line later on.

In this case I drew very clean pencil lines, scanned them and kept them like that. I'll often ink over pencil sketches, though.

So in this case you do what I do. Redraw the lines later. I mean if you do like I do, draw, erase, make the lines darker, sometime when scanning it in you still have the smear to deal with. The scanners just don't pick up the lines. And I am heavy handed!!

OK, I don't normally use tutorials (I know, I know I should XD but I'm quite stubborn) but this one is making me wish I had some clean sketches to try it out on. I don't, so I'm using some rough ones and I'm really loving this method. A lot, I have tons of trouble shading and highlighting so I usually just flatcolor but I can shade (or give the illusion of shading XD) wonderfully with this method and for that I cannot thank you enough.
I do have a couple questions, though, because I confuse easy XD For step 3, are the lineart and base color on separate layers? Do you ink it at all or just use a clean sketch (which would be awesome. I'm lazy as all hell and I hate inking XD)?
All in all, I really love this tutorial. Thanks so much for making it Plus fav and all that.
Oh, by the way, you win so much for randomly throwing in a Silent Hill quote with a drawing of a Psychonauts character.

Aw, I'm glad it turned out so useful to someone! |^^|
I'm often pretty lazy about shading myself, so I spend half my time trying to understand how you can draw something finished-looking without putting too much work into it, heehee...
Question-answering: The lineart layer is seperate to the base color layer. I DID write that a bit confused. It's usually good to seperate as much as possible on different layers, that way you can easily play around with it or correct something. |^^|;
While I personally love inking, this one's a cleaned-up pencil sketch because nothing quite beats the liveliness and texture of pencil lines, especially smudged-and-cleaned-up-again ones.
Haw, it's so awesome you spotted the quote, too.

Boyd is very weird, yeah.. but wow, it's fun to listen to his randomized conspiracy babblings for hours.
