Ugh, you can see how messy my pencil work is compared to my digital work...(and even the digital is kinda messy '''') But I couldn't work up the motivation to redraw them all like last time TwT gave me some ideas on how to make my human version of Toothless look older, and I wanted to give it a shot! I tried to make his face more manly lol, I'm not too practiced in drawing older people >w>''' The hair's longer and messier too, with a little braid (all the kids seem to have one in the second movie, not sure why lol) more parts sticking up because apparently Toothless gets more spines when he ages, I also added more spines on his jawline for that. I tried facial hair on him too but it either didn't work on him or I'm just terrible at drawing facial hair X'D Probably both OTL I also must express how difficult it is for me to draw armor, uuuughhhh, I basically just added lots of straps instead >.>''' I may get rid of the spikes on that one shoulder pad, not sure...more freckles too, and it seems I've decided to go with green eyes for him instead of those inverse colors from before >w<The other sketches are me trying to decide how Toothless's hair should be pulled back. I think Toothless himself wouldn't care very much, but I think Astrid would
She's actually really easy to draw pffft Still not sure if I should go with a braid, maybe a thinner braid over the shoulder, a ponytail...I reeeally don't know X''D I have lots of fun with this one's hair, it's kinda similar to an OC I have (but he's a cat, no a dragon ehehe) Hope he looks alright! I may end up changing some things about him later, but this is just what I'm at for now ^^
Anyone know when HTTYD 2 comes out to dollar theater in America? Apparently that's the only way I'm going to get to see it in theaters ;w;

I was curious to see how he looks with long hair. X3 He's exactly like Hiccup for me; their HTTYD1 versions are so adorable but their HTTYD2 versions are so handsome and cool, I can't pick which one I like better!! XD
Ah, I just noticed that his freckle-scales look bigger, too. XD Nice idea! (They almost look like tattoos now, which would fit with the whole "Viking biker" thing. XD 
I think I like that middle ponytail best. ^^ And looooooollll, I love that idea of Tooth not caring about his hair but Astrid forcing him to sit still long enough for her to style it. XD XD So cute!!!

I'd been worried that he wouldn't look old enough without facial hair, but I needn't have; he looks fine and definitely older even though he's clean-shaven. ^^ No worries there, either!

True! But my character also has cat ears made up of the hair similar to Tooth, and with it longer and draped over the shoulders like this, I just kind of had the funny realization XD He's for my capstone web comic, I'm sure he'll eventually show up here on DA somewhere Owo *ramble ramble*

I forgot to say in my original comment on this that I also like how he has extra "sticking up parts" in his hairstyle, and your reasoning for it; movie tie-in ftw! ^^

As for a tattoo, hmm, I dunno. Side of the neck, forearm, a tiny one on his face...? 'S up to you. ^^
As far as the design, uh...I don't know. X'D Maybe a fish...? 
Yeah; he probably would want to put his hair up because it'd get in the way when he's flying, but you're right that he probably wouldn't put much effort into it; and the big braid in back did look a little heavy.
(I still love the idea of Astrid styling her boyfriend's dragon's hair, though. XD Maybe she's the one who compromised with the little braid after Toothless undid all her hard work with the big one. XD)
Lololol, I got a story idea today at work that I'm pretty sure was subconsciously inspired by your sketches, since it involves humanToothless and braids. XD I'm gonna see if I can get it all drafted tonight~
It's up to you. ^^ If you were planning to color it, that's cool, since I almost always like seeing pictures in color (not sure if you were going to color it or just re-draw it digitally); but like I said, I also really love your pencil sketches, so when you do draw two versions of the same picture, I like to collect them both. XD
But if you were only planning to redraw it out of obligation or something, there's no need! Your pencil sketches look pretty as they are.
Well, Hiccup got one of his braids during an early scene in the movie, but all the other braids are just random. XD It makes me wonder whether they're going to address that in season 3 of the TV show or not.
