Description
This commission was requested by Celestialhost.
Inventa was a Golden/Silver age Wonder woman villain. Along with her henchman, Torcha, she often caused trouble for Wonder Woman and her fellow Amazons. Inventa was a brilliant young woman from the island of Cadmea. While doing time on Themyscira’s Reformation Island, Inventa broke free from her prison and took over the island. She then used a special gas to incapacitate Wonder Woman and her allies. She then took Wonder Woman to Cadmea where the Amazing Amazon would face four inescapable traps known as “The Four Dooms”. Diana escaped the trials successfully and brought back Inventa and her allies to Reformation Island. Sadly DC never brought Inventa into Wonder Woman's Modern Age. She's still popular amongst long-time Wonder Woman fans however with the New 52 scrapping Wonder Woman's origins and traditional mythos, and her "I deal with them" attitude (aka kill them off), there's less of a chance she’ll appear in the New 52 Era. Some fans feel upset by the unlikelihood of her appearing in the New 52, others take a huge sigh of relief. Either way she is an interesting part of Wonder Woman's pat that DC has discarded in the New 52 era.
Inventa appears here in two outfits:
Blue Tunic:
This is her “escaping” outfit she dons when she breaks out of prison and takes over Reformation Island. It’s a simple blue tunic with leather armor underneath.
Prison Wear:
This is Inventa’s prison outfit. It’s a gray tunic with black stripes. The outfit is almost exactly the same as her Golden Age looked. She wears a magical “Venus Girdle” or “Aphrodite Girdle” which the Amazons used on prisoners to help them get rid of their hate and anger.

You'd think with a name like Inventa, her gimmick would be INVENTING. You gotta love the Golden Age Wonder Woman for the crazy-named villains alone.

Lol! So true! XD She did invent the traps Diana faced! XD But they didn't play on that much! You're so right! XD

Indeed. They should bring her back in the new Wonder Woman series.

Haha! I agree they should bring her back but she won't fit in the New 52 Wonder Woman due to the mythos being changed. There is no reformation island and Diana no longer has a desire to change people's hearts. If Brian or the next writer did bring Inventa back, they'd have to kill her because that's how Diana must deal with her enemies in the New 52. Inventa needs to be reoccurring! New 52 Diana has a unique motto: "Piss me off I'll snap your neck and we're done."

She does invent a key to unlock the magical girdles that restrain the prisoners on Transformation Island.

What happened to her feet on the prison version? She's wearing sandals with that outfit in the comic. You didn't feel like drawing her feet a second time?

Actually I did... lol! but I got some flesh color paint on the paper and couldn't get it off so I was forced to make her prison version much larger and use her arm to cover up the blemish. :/ She wears the sandals in both lol! ;D

Great designs.
Is Inventa definitely from Cadmea? I didn't know the comic stated her origin. I actually imagined her being British!

Yeah. It's just stated but never goes into depth in either the Golden or Silver Ages. I imagined er British as well! XD She could've lived in the UK.... The comics don't dive into her life prior to her time on Themyscira.

Cadmea in Greece was a real place, but not an island.
In the comic, she wore a modern outfit immediately after her escape. That suggests she is somebody from a modern society, unlike the Amazons or Circe or Queen Clea. I commissioned to draw Inventa's escape outfit a while ago:

I was going to place her in a modern outfit next to her prison but that blemish ruined it! lol! In the comics Cadmea was an island. I'm redoing the entire page to get all three versions on one piece.
This is the book I got the information from on her backstories- "The Ultimate Wonder Woman Encyclopedia":

Again, this character looks just like Diana. She's standard Golden Age pretty dark-haired character (like Inventa, Saturnette and Blue Snowman), while Mala and Eviless are standard Golden Age pretty blonde-haired character.
By the way, will you be drawing Mala at some point? These villainous ladies need their firm but kindly jailor to teach them some loving obedience!

Haha! She does look like Diana! XD I love that Wonder Woman villains use to all have a similar structure to keep them unique to her world! I will defdenetly get to Eviless and Mala when I get the chance!
I need to get my Wonder Woman drive back! It's been had drawing her these passed three years.. :/

She was an interesting Villain! I found that she looked a lot like Diana too! XD I'll end up doing more with her in the future. To bad DC never reused her in the modern age! And with New 52 there's no chance of her reappearing.

A lot of Golden Age Wonder Woman characters look very similar physically. Mala and Eviless look practically identical, even on the same panel!

This is true! It was kinda cool that way how Wonder woman's universe always followed a special style! Like Superman and Batman. That style was kept up until 2011... lol!
