This is based on this picture right here that made.
It's a very nice picture that perfectly shows Starlight's inner struggle. So I'm not trying to insult her or anything by doing my own version. I just wanted to take it further. I wanted to make it really creepy and really sad. And I think I pulled it off. Though the way I made it look, this could be a nightmare. One of many that I'm sure she had.
Poor Glim Glam. She's been through a lot.

Sorry. lol I mean, all biases aside (because she's one of my favorite characters) I think that's the perfect description for her. Hell, that's the perfect description for ALL the characters. Which ever ones connect with you the most is really depending on the person. But for some reason people just have a hard time connecting with Starlight. Eh, whatever. As long as people are aware that all this is more of a personal preference than anything else.

Starlight Glimmer galloped across the dark, desolate wasteland, squinting her eyes to shield them from the blowing dust that stung her face.
“How?” she asked out loud, to nopony but herself. Nopony else was there. “Why? What is this?”
“This is your future, Starlight Glimmer,” came an echoing, almost ethereal voice.
Starlight wheeled in a complete circle to be sure she hadn’t overlooked the source of the voice, but she was still alone. “No, it-it can’t-”
“You wanted this.” The voice came eerily familiar to Starlight’s ears. “This is what happens in a world where everypony has the same cutie mark and no special talents. The world you wanted.”
“I didn’t want this!” Starlight yelled back. “I wanted a world where everypony felt like they could belong!”
“Those friends of yours haven’t really forgiven you,” the voice came again, abruptly changing the subject. “They've only let you in close because they have to keep you in check. You know it’s true.”
“Who are you?!” Starlight demanded. She spun around again, trying to find the source of the mysterious voice.
“You know who I am.”
Starlight winced and held her forehoof aloft. She could hazard only one guess; this WAS the dream realm, after all. “Princess Luna?”
“Ha! As if Princess Luna would come to help a pony with a past like yours.”
“Luna understands what I’ve been through!”
“Does she?”
A simple retort, but one that stopped Starlight cold. “W-why are you saying these things?”
“Because, Starlight Glimmer, those ponies have made you soft and weak. Friendship has turned you away from the path you once walked. You were powerful, dangerous, commanding. Now you’re not even a shadow of what you once were.”
“I left that life behind for a reason!”
“What? Afraid of a little power?”
Starlight narrowed her eyes and lowered her voice to a dangerous growl. “You don’t know anything about me.”
“Wrong. You and I are more alike than you could possibly imagine.”
Starlight squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out the voice. “You’re wrong! I’m not like you!”
“You’re afraid of the truth. You can hide from many things, Starlight Glimmer, but you cannot hide from your past. You cannot hide from the darkness of your own shadow.”
Shadow? That the was the second time the voice had mentioned her shadow. Starlight looked over her shoulder at her silhouette, suddenly realizing the familiarity of the voice she’d been hearing. It was her own.
“That’s right. Smart filly.”
Starlight dropped to her haunches. Looking down at her shadow, she could swear she saw its eyes glow a ghostly white, illuminating it, revealing the pony she once was. Her equal sign cutie mark was there; the shadow wore her old wide-banged manestyle.
“You see? We’re exactly alike, because I AM you. I am what you used to be.”
“Used to.” Starlight shook her head. She couldn’t let her shadow get to her. “Not any more. I’ve got a new life now, with REAL friends who I didn’t have to force to change!”
“You don’t deserve friends. Who in their right mind would love a pony like you? They’d only be your friend if you forced them to.”
Those words opened up old wounds, no doubt as the shadow wanted. Tears streaming down her face, Starlight felt the shadow seeping in the open wounds.
“Look at you, on your haunches, crying like a filly,” the shadow taunted. “This is where friendship has brought you. You’re weak, you’re petty, you’re useless!”
“Please,” Starlight moaned. “Stop.”
“I won’t stop, Starlight Glimmer. No matter how far you run, no matter where you hide, I will always be chained to you, one step behind you. And the closer you get to the light, the greater I’ll become.”
Starlight’s eyes flew open. She knew just what to do. “Is that what you think?” she said challengingly. “Then get a load of this!”
Her horn sparkled with magic energy and, in what seemed like an instant, Starlight separated herself from the taunting shadow.
“There,” Starlight grumbled, taking a step back to prove her point. Her and the shadow were two separate entities now. “Now you’re no longer linked to me.”
In response, the shadow cackled with insane glee, her own horn glittering as the power of her magic opened up a flat, circular portal to the waking world.“Thanks. I was hoping you’d do that. You’re so predictable.”
Starlight gulped down a nervous lump in her throat. She’d said the same thing to Twilight once.
The shadow sauntered to her side, whispering menacingly into her ear. "You see? This is why everypony will leave you. You've just messed up again. You can't do anything without your magic, and when you do use your magic, you only set yourself up for failure. And it's just failed you again. Because I'm going to finish what you started!"
“NO!” Starlight galloped after her shadow, but it had been too late. She’d already slipped through the portal, which closed behind her.

I smell fanfiction!
I'm just cueing right now of this what this image is about.
- I remember what was happening to Starlight. She was suffering form depression and fillyhood trauma. She couldn't sleep for nights or maybe even weeks. I told her I was her best friend and I won't let anything or anypony get her hurt, but she told me she doesn't deserve friends. Then my ears perked up with her mumbling that her manestyle was different and the cutie mark was nothing but an equal sign. The medication wasn't working and I told the doctor specifically not to give her the pills. (sighs) She needed help and it has to happen right now. The only strange thing I heard last night before I went to sleep was hoofsteps. Maybe it was somepony checking on Starlight, but I am not sure what it was. Years ago, I suffered the same fate but this voice said too many awful things like your friends won't listen to you, but I won't go into the details much. It happened right after the want it, need it spell incident. The doctors didn't help much, but Princess Luna finally did. Maybe Princess Luna can help her to get rid of this other self whether its in a dream or worse case yet reality. I wish I could help her get rid of whatever this other self is but it wouldn't be that easy. It would be better if somepony else helped her than myself.

Glad you like it. Before MLP, I used to have this other side and it said negative things of what I am not supposed to be. I would say, "Shut up! That is not me. Leave me alone." Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. So yeah been there and don't want to think about it again.
