Figured I should upload something so maybe I’ll have some sort of schedule of uploads. It wasn’t going to be this guy and in fact a different character, but I have to think about background for that one.

Was browsing through my photos when I found the original page of doodles for this guy. He was made many years ago, like it had to have been like around 2015-2016? I think?? It had to been no later than 2016 I know that, I’m pretty sure anyway. Might have been like 2017 for all I know.

He didn’t originally look like this. If you take this and make the proportions and body look more human and give him 5 fingers then that’s his original design. Colors were brighter versions of these.

He doesn’t have a name yet because names give me issues and if I named him if was later and I don’t remember. His name is temporarily guy in this.

Information about him is actually written down, which is surprising for me at this time. Even then I do remember the basics of this guy even if there wasn’t anything written down. I’ll likely upload an older piece I drew of him in the future that’ll show his original design, which is now outdated.

Anyway, his species has sort of merged with another in a symbiotic relationship allowing them to do things they couldn’t before. They rely on hallucinations/distortions of reality to survive. They are not a race that likes to fight, which they can’t do well anyway. If an individual is upset, their image will distort involuntarily, if this guy’s case it is mostly to do with his eyes and face. The other species merges into their back creating a black pattern on their backs. The smoke arms are a manifestation of this species to help them do extra things. There is a physical limb in the smoke but it is temporary, only there when needed. Some have more powers(?) than others, the more powerful of which take turns with others to help shield the planet from eyes. In the case that someone were to land on the planet, then they together can shield their cities from eyes. They’re likely some sort of hive mind type of deal? They can share thoughts between one another and communicate telepathically if needed. They likely have a few allies outside of their planet, although they are very wary of trusting others due to how little they can defend themselves. That’s not to say that they don’t defend themselves because they can, but compared to their neighbors in space their defense systems aren’t that great. If some others knew of their existence and had bad intentions, they could pretty easily take over their planet. They don’t emote much at all in their facial expressions as it mostly comes through in their voice. They don’t wear clothes unless it’s for special occasions. They are somewhat resilient to being killed/hurt, more than others initially assume that is, but they definitely can be killed pretty easily once someone figures that out.

I don’t think there’s many differences between the sexes, but then again I do need to think some more about them as I’ve only ever drawn this guy. They’re tall and have a longer lifespan than humans. They do have interplanetary travel but don’t have interstellar travel, although a few have travelled to other systems on other ships not their own, which includes this guy. He has visited Earth a few times, but he no longer resides there like I originally wrote.

I’ll write more late when I think more, either here or on toyhouse if/when I make him a page.
