What if I have a poster layout and I wanted the background characters to not be blurry and to show their emotions.

you either give up on aperture setting or export two posters, oke with aperture on and other without. Then you put them one layer above another in ps/gimp/sai and erase the blur where you don't want it.

I was just looking for a simple lighting tutorial, and gawd, I found the motherlode!
This is so useful in so many ways. I especially love the 'law and order' and FOV parts!
Thank you for taking the time to make this guide, Menaria! It helps so much!

Just would like to mention you left out a little rule called the "Rule of Thirds" for posing your posters. It pertains to what our eyes immediately shoot attention onto, making those points stand out a little more in art/posters.Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_β¦

Menaria In reply to J-Tom-Dans [2014-06-29 08:14:56 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah I know that thing. I use it to create my own drawings, but in all honesty, I simply didn't know how I was supposed to explain that rule to people that barely know how to work with a camera. Notice that the whole tutorial is written in a really simple style.

J-Tom-Dans In reply to Menaria [2014-06-29 17:01:04 +0000 UTC]
Aye. I know you use it, just thought that you could have somehow fit it into the tutorial in a more simple form.

Poor FOV usage rustles my jimmies more than ridiculus pairings in the fandom.

Good tutorial.Β I already do this (well the posing anyway), but still, good to reread (Even if I am simply ignored by the DA community).Β I need to work on focus planes.Β I don't even use them right now.

I can't see the flaws in what I've made so far. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong and how I can improve on my works?
π: 0 β©: 1
Menaria In reply to CrusaderTheFirst [2014-06-29 08:05:33 +0000 UTC]
Well first of all - you don't put a lot of effort into your poses. You make one sequence for the first picture and in the next parts of the comic you are just moving a little with arms and head to make it look different. You also need to work more on the face expressions, but that's not an easy task anyway.
Also your posters lack in a proper shading. And dark elements are left dark, without bringing a light particle.
This is a good example. I know that you wanted to make it look dramatic, but even for this job a proper lighting/shading is required.
And lastly:
I noticed a FOV issue in the fist two posters. You should work on it more too.

Thanks for the assistance. Now I can see what to do correctly. How some of these steps can be accomplished is done differently in gmod while you use sfm.
