Description
This is my remake of a Marvel Comics "The Ultimates" cover by Bryan Hitch. The picture struck me as the ultimate picture of the Norse thunder god, Thor; so I made it again in ink and fineliner, changing the modern super-hero accessoires into more traditional gear.Again I used rather outdated software (picture publisher 8 or so) for colouring and the finishing touches.

Love the Viking thing you got going. I've been trying to do Irish Celt warriors and mythology for some time now. Everytime I start something else pops up. So bravo and show the pixel pushers how its done.

Wow, that's heavy!
I loved the ultimates one, but this version rules
Only one thing.. I would locate the shield a little above the actual position, with the fist right in the middle!

Yep, he's obviously holding the shield loosely at a loop, but as it doesn't feature a shield boss, I placed it that way to show off the belt design. It never was meant to be a serious thing, you know... The design on the shield is a knotwork version of a Chaos star, symbol of the warrior/heathen/barbarian group I'm with, not really appropriate for the Norse God of Thunder. Now some guy from Indonesia has stolen the pic for his blog on the Norse Gods
I won't rework the picture, next time I picture Thor it will be entirely my design... hope it will be at least half that striking!
Thank you for your praise and encouragement!

EPIC, have you ever considered doin one of TYR, you never see them around, i named my son Tyr and ive read a bit about him although theres not much but apparently in Germania at the height of Roman power Tyr was the main god worshipped but later got surplantted by Thor in Odin in Scandanavia which is where i guess there more known from nowadays. His counterpart in Greek Mythology in Zeus too i read so he used to kinda be like Odin blah blah blah sorry to bore you you probably know all this anyway
Id even buy one if you did one of Tyr
