Description
This is a set of weather icons I originally created for one of my Samurize configs. They are numbered to be compliant with the weather.com weather service and partially compliant with the Yahoo! Weather service and can be used with Rainmeter skins or Samurize configs (and possibly other programs) that use one of these services. Of course you can also use them for other weather-related things. The set includes six variations, as png (128x128 px) and svg.
Please note that these icons are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license. This means you are free to use these icons for whatever purposes you desire, and you can even modify them and make your own versions, as long as you credit the original author (please provide a link to this page). If you release a modified version of the icons, they must be put under the same license as the originals. The icons were created using Inkscape, and you can easily modify them with that software.
Thanks for all your comments and favs!
If you use the icons in your own work please include a link to this site and drop me a note or comment so I can link you here.

Neat. How is the performance on this? Looks like you need to be constantly running ImageMagick every time something in the skin changes.
This gives me the idea of a skin collection living in a world of isometric cubes.....

Mordasius In reply to MerlinTheRed [2014-04-02 06:01:25 +0000 UTC]
It's not too much of a performance hit as only six out of the sixteen skins use ImageMagick and it's only the slide show (updating every nineteen seconds) and the RSS feedreader (updating once a minute) that cause any CPU usage spikes. All the other skins are using transformation matrix and/or photoshop smoke and mirrors.

Thanks for telling me.
If you want to include the icons in your own download instead of directing people to download them separately here, I don't have a problem with that. You already have a link to this page in your description. That's enough credit for me.

You can use them for anything, as long as you credit the originals (link back to this page) and don't make money off of it.

what does the icon 22.png represent?
I was thinking it might be mist or fog...but not sure.
These icons are great by the way...I am going to use them in a personal android widget...not being released but I will share some screenshots.
also what is 36.png?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MerlinTheRed In reply to RottNKorpse [2013-06-19 18:51:37 +0000 UTC]
Icon 22 is for a foggy or dusty day. Icon 36 is a really hot cloudless day. You can get an overview of the meanings of all the icons here (scroll down): [link] It might be slightly different depending on what exact weather service you are using. The Yahoo codes are taken from weather.com, but I think they are not a 1:1 match and I think that there isn't really any official, freely available information about what exactly all the weather.com codes stand for.

Hi Merlin,
Can I apply these Icons in a free Iphone app?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MerlinTheRed In reply to marcowing [2013-06-09 19:42:57 +0000 UTC]
You can, if you add credit to the source of the icons (provide a link to the deviantart page) somewhere it can be found (like the app's description). Be aware that the icons may not be used for commercial purposes. So if your app is free, but contains sponsored ads, you can't use them.

These icons are beautiful, but can you supply a set of the dark icons without that glow effect? I think it really kills the whole flat look the white set pulls off.
These look nice with Shiva's large clean weather. Great job!

MerlinTheRed In reply to Deeje [2013-03-01 18:26:44 +0000 UTC]
The shadow behind the dark icons is exactly the same as behind the white ones, but I guess since they are meant to be used on brighter backgrounds the shadow doesn't help with contrast here.
I think doing away with the shadow altogether won't look good either, and adding a bright halo would probably look weird. I agree with you though. Perhaps I'll upload a new version soon, with a more subtle shadow.
