And just in case there are those of you who are wondering - YES. A gas mask was kind of the inspiration here.
I mean - COME ON~ Gas mask and steampunk - Steampunk and gas mask...they just go hand in hand...besides - for some strange reason I thought the idea of incorporating that into Optimus's already existing mask just sounded cool~ I LIKE IT. No more needs to be said.
