I've done plenty of emotional pieces
focusing on Twilight Sparkle, and my OC Alex Cosmos..
HOWEVER, I haven't done any featuring the other five of 'The Mane Six'
who each have cared about Alex in their own way, and are equally devastated by his death.
In this artwork, I tried to capture a different level of Sadness and Grief for each pony.
some can hold in their emotions better, while others just can't take it.
ALL are broken up inside.
the song featured here is by Linkin Park.
and, was suggested to be a theme music for Alex by a reviewer of one of my MLP fictions.
(I feel it may be fitting music)

the only other "Cosmo" that I know is a green haired fairy with a -99 IQ

I have and know the song. Even if I clicked the link. Really this is another good one. Including on all six of well the Mane Six. Also nice of trying to catch each enmotion in them. Nice that this reviewer you talked about suggested this song.
Another thing I was trying to find which part after the one story I read and reviewed. Went into your Equestria Girls Beyond Life And Death, didn't find it. Mostly I plan on faving some stories and read them. To see of what you wrote and make you happy. Still your quite good in much stuff here. And that 2nd comment, "Let the ghost invasion start soon". Yes I read about that below one of the Alex Cosmo's pics I faved.

I'm not going to lie, It was quite difficult to draw each of them on one page.
and, try to make them look like individuals, and not just "generic" clones of each other.
I used a lot of reference images to get certain details right
and, to capture juuust the right emotion for each character (obviously some are bawling, while others hold in their tears better)

When doing these "song artwork"
I try and only use musical pieces that fit best with the characters and mood.
(and, it seems I almost always use Linkin Park songs for my artwork.)
With this song, I imagined Alex was singing it before he died.
wanting his life to have more meaning by being missed once he died..
..but, at the same time, didn't want his friends to suffer,
and, asked that they remember him as he was in life, and not think of his death so much.

I noticed, but Alex to me is one of the most interesting characters you've got.

May be because I made him a bit more "real"
giving him an abusive father, and making Twilight more of a Protector, than just another "fillyfriend"
With Alex, I initially started by making him an OC that is impossible to hate
(as I anticipated backlash from Flash SentryxTwilight Sparkle Fans)
but, later evolved into a Heroic Character, rather than just a victimized child.
Perhaps his evolution into a Pony Version of Danny Phantom
(and, the revelation that he is a descendant of King Sombra) made him that much interesting.

I wanted to make each one unique.
Because Twilight loved Alex, she's crying the loudest.
and, I had Fluttershy laying down because she doesn't tale loss very well.
Rainbow Dash and Applejack (being "Tomboys")
are doing their best to hold it in..but, they are failing, and will soon cry, too.
Rarity, being a pony of Class, is trying to be proper about this,
but, she too will cry her eyes out (the dark streaks on her face is her eyeliner, BTW)
and, for Pinkie..I just made her Pinkamena: 'Nuff Said.
Just showing that they all loved Alex for different reasons.

I like to visualize 'Alex Return' being similar to that one scene in The Lion King.
when Simba Returned to Pride Rock, and he showed himself to everyone shortly after Scar struck at his mother
(you know, with the lightning bolt, thunder an Angry Simba.)
I liked the part where Scar freaked for a moment, thinking MUFASA had returned from the dead.
a VERY similar scene would playout during the Ghost Invasion at Ponyville,
where Lionel struck at Twilight, and Alex attacks him for it.
Him being "alive" would be shocking enough.
but, I am certain the other characters would be stunned at seeing Alex an Alicorn
(given that prior to his death, he was once just a common Earth Pony.)

Actually, I continue with TLK references,
by having The Changelings serve a similar role as The Hyenas
(and, later, turn on Lionel much like the Hyenas did to Scar towards the end)
But, I mostly hope to make MLP fans happy,
by writing in the G1 Villains Grogar and Tirek.
Grogar being Sombra's old mentor, much like Darth Sidious was to Darth Vader.
and, Tirek serving a role similar to Unicron (with Grogar as his "herald")
"Queen Lauren Faust" (Celestia and Luna's mother) will also play a part in the storyline.
I may have already stated these facts before..
BUT, I just wanted to be sure you knew them.

I've also done artwork for the character,
but, the fiction would give more insight on the character.
To put it simply, he's a Stallion from an abusive family,
who Twilight fell in love with, and had a foal with later on.
but, he died from a cancerous disease (only to return as a Ghost)
