Description
Might be deleted and resubmitted if I can figure out a good traditional background for this one instead of the crappy digital one it has now.Well, if you haven't already realized, this is Paluu yet again. A random design popped into my head all of a sudden so I had to get it on paper. The end result (not counting the BG) is pretty decent, but I KNOW I drew her crotch too high, so don't remind me about that.
Nothing much else to say... well, enjoy! HOMG I NEED IDEAS FOR A GOOD BACKGROUND OTHER THAN THIS SO PLEASE HELP ME OR I'LL FORK YOU.
MATERIALS USED: Micron 01 brown pen, Copic Multiliner 01 black pen, Copic sketch markers, HB lead pencil, Prismacolor white charcoal pencil, white gel pen, all on bristol board. Background, border, and touch-ups done on PSP X.

wow you sure know how to use those markers
Amazing coloring, and the shading too .
I was just wondering, how do you get the shades to mix with eachother so well? It looks so soft , I cant almost see any lines at all!

Thank you! Well, to blend, you really have to know how to vary the pressure applied with the marker to the paper, plus a lot of my coloring is done with quick strokes while decreasing the pressure. Plus I like to either start with light colors and layer them, or use a dark color first and blend using a lighter one over it using the stroke method. Not sure if I made too much sense, but that's the basic idea.

I really like how you did the design of her outfit and the detailing in it! Her hair came out really good there.
You worked so hard on this drawing.

You have a grat talent with copics, im very impressed! Im envious of the way you make wrinkles, instant fav. do you mind me asking which colors you used for the eyes?

Thank you! Well, in terms of the actual type of marker I used, I can't remember.
I used a dark blue and then went over it with a magenta-y purple. Paluu's eyes are always so confusing to color.

BACKGROUND IDEA:
She should be in a really high-class dinner party, ball, something like that. Something with really expensive alcohol. And like... everyone's wearing evening gowns & tuxedos.... 'cept for her

I really like this.
Um, why would you delete and resubmit instead of just editing? It'll show up in people's watches again anyway if you change the image...

Wow, that's so awesome! The clothes look like clothes, and the pose is very nice.
You should think of making a cloth folds tutorial or something.

An idea for a BG? I look at this and I am thinking a ballroom with gray or beige carpet with a simple pattern. There are windows on the walls. There are those square lights like at school on the ceiling. Maybe some banner announcing some event. That's all that comes to mind.
This is very pretty! Paluu is one pretty girl. I like her outfit. This is colored well and I like all of the detail on this. Nice pose too and I like how the folds in her clothes are done.

Two thumbs up!

Thank you!
I never really use pencils, actually. It was done in Copic marker and the BG is a bunch of brushes.

You know I have a feeling you bashing your own work all the time you just want pity comments. :/
π: 0 β©: 1
Mew-Sumomo In reply to Dokudel [2007-05-06 06:29:50 +0000 UTC]
Actually, no. More like I try to point out things I feel that I have done wrong so massive amounts of viewers don't point it out for me over and over again, which tends to happen. In fact, half the time I critique myself, I expect more people to agree with me than pity me.
Most pity comments are usually just lies to make someone feel better, so I don't really like people doing that all the time.

Dokudel In reply to Mew-Sumomo [2007-05-06 07:34:08 +0000 UTC]
Then why dont you just do practice a lot of sketches then do complete works? So you can fix these problems. Not trying to bash you. Even though yourself is a good critque hearing it from others help a lot too. Cause other people can tell you honestly what the problem is. I know how it is I got accept to 2 art college SVA and Pratt(But didnt have the money for it.) It REALLY helps a lot if you do a lot of human artwork. Human artwork helps you with anatomy for anime, if you cant draw humans then techinically you cant draw anime.

Mew-Sumomo In reply to Dokudel [2007-05-06 23:36:28 +0000 UTC]
Haha, sorry if my reply was a bit harsh back there. I try to get plenty of crit IRL by people like my dad who helps immensly on my anatomical errors (if it wasn't for him then I would draw the same as I did back when I was 12, which is... really bad. x_x) You got accepted to both colleges?
I have my heart set on Pratt (if I HAVE the money by the time I go to college... my aunt who went there says it's over 20 grand a year.
) but if I don't get into there I want SVA to fall back on. Plus I'm going to that fancy art school in the fall and I'm going to do a lot of life drawing there and in a new art class I scheduled for myself next year in grade 10, so hopefully I'll get plenty of useful critique there. Plus I have this anatomy book that my dad gave me that I use often to help me if I don't understand something. I agree on how you can't draw anime if you can't first do humans correctly, and it annoys me when a lot of anime artist refuse to pick up anatomy books because "I DRAW ANIME AND THAZ NOT ANIMEEEEE. D:"
Reference from life is definetly more useful, especially if you're not drawing anime for the sake of drawing anime.

Amazing colouring, for one thing, especially in the outfit, and I love the way you drew the clothing folds. There's something I really like about the hair and expression, too. I think the digital background works just fine. <3
