It's a Demon. It doesn't.

This is a great image, and has a lot of neat ideas. I especially like the multiple faces, the weird jaw bone structure, and I probably don't even want to know what's in those sacs...
I do think there should be slime on those tentacles.

Great work here!

Cool! I think he's one of my favorite demon lords now that I've painted him.

This piece has single handedly turned Obox-ob from a cool demon lord that I'll use when I can to one of my favourites that has to be worked in whenever possible! This is an incredible digital painting that conveys otherness and insanity of an ancient lord perfectly.

I've always had a thing for the obyriths. That whole eldritch look that they all have and how they're just so horrifying their visage alone is enough to drive someone mad; my personal favorite obyrith lord is Pale Night, who I've done a picture of myself, but of the littler monsters, the ekolids, whom Obox-ob rules over, are the most preferable to me, and so I've had a bit of a thing for their prince as well. Great job, and I especially like how he's not as blurred here as he was in the official art. Excellent work, and while the colors are very definite, the way you'd applied them gives that slightly grayed, sickly look that any self-respecting obyrith would never be caught without. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Y'know, James Jacobs made up that guy in his home game. Fun fact.

Oh yeah? That's interesting. I had not heard of it before the demon Codex, but it makes sense it would have appeared first in a Paizo product back then.

He'd done Obox-ob for his home game, then he got to publish him in the Demonomicon or whatever that 3.5 book was called. Co-wrote it with Erik Mona. Both of 'em are big into demons. I think Malcanthet (demon queen of succubi) was a similar deal; that one was Jeff Grubb's, IIRC. I'm iffy on that one, having not sat around and bullshitted with Jeff Grubb and all.

I got a head full of this crap.

Mmm hmm. I gotcha. I am doing one of Socothbenoth and Zuggtmoy as well. I wonder who is responsible for Zuggtmoy's makeover from elephantine puffball to snakey lady demon fungus.

I'm almost certain Zuggtmoy's update was James Jacobs. Dunno why; I'm not sure there's any amount of alcohol that would make me think diddling a fungus-woman was a good idea.
