Wow. Everyone's got big projects these days haha. Tabletop RPGs, novels, PC games etc.

Thanks man! I really like reading scifi! Whats the name of your book? I'll pick it up if I see it.

I suppose we all aspire to do something grand...

It is actually not published yet. Finding a publisher as a nobody can prove quite tricky! I am still in the 3rd rewrite as of now. I will continue diligently though and hopefully someday I can point you towards it!

Sure! I am glad to delve into it as much as you like:

Set in a science fiction setting, quite high tech. (Think Infinity, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell [albeit spacier])

The first book's story revolves primarily around a single elite squadron of power armor special forces marines of the Republican Earth Dominion (RED) as they try to sneak through the Capital of Venus on a mission to bring down one of a number of Orbital Defense Platforms (big ground weapon to deter space invasions) that has recently been occupied by an invasion force of the United Galactic Colonies (UGC), who have used an insider on Venus to disable the planetary defense network and siege the capital and capture Venus's President in a move to make way for more forces to follow. They wish to take Venus as a territory and use it as a staging area to eventually take Earth as well (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are all territory belonging to the RED)

So the story follows the recently-promoted female Sergeant of this elite team of marines on their mission, along the way they bump heads with a doppelganger type unit of enemy special forces units sent out to hunt her own team down. They also meet a mysterious assassin and are forced to assist them with their grisly demands to better their own mission objectives. Eventually this story expands into a completely different style as the Sergeant finds herself no longer employed by the military through a chain of events I wont spoil, and she ends up becoming the captain of a long-lost, powerful destroyer style fighter ship which belonged to her father, a famous RED General.

Needing a crew to help her run the impressive vessel, she turns to old comrades and new friends she has made and they set out as privateers/bounty hunters/smugglers for hire and begin making a name for themselves using their superior military skills and assets. Along the way they acquire new help in the form of an infamous underground hacker, a discredited doctor/scientist and a prototype battle mecha with superior AI (a landmate) (Think Firefly/Cowboy Bebop/Appleseed)

This quickly attracts the attention of various dangerous parties such as an infamous female bounty hunter ( A sort of girl boba fett/lara croft), space pirates, gangsters, mercenaries and even the UGC as well. The story follows the crew as they start unraveling information about the insider(s) on Venus, and find out about some devious plans intended to usurp the Dominion Empire. They make their way all over the galaxy seeing exotic places and through a number of events that all spiderweb together back to their original mission of trying to retake the Orbital Platforms.

They are constantly stuck in the middle of firefights and sidetracked by things like high speed races, mecha combat arenas and drug rings to name a few, while trying to decide where to pledge their loyalty and how far they should get involved in the grand scheme of events but also make ends meet and keep jobs going to fix up their expensive battleship, keep supplies and food on the table and hopefully make a little money too.

Right now I am rewriting the first book for the third time (for editing) and have two more planned, as well as some spin offs in the same universe that follow other characters in the series assuming it goes well...

Β It has been a labor of love and spans many genres and has hundreds of easter egg throwbacks to various things that have inspired me.

Dude. This sounds great already! Its really is a labour of love man! I feel this is how all projects should be! Not for money or to please people, YOU'RE doing this for YOU, and it should stay that way! I'm a huge Firefly fan, and this is like Firefly but on a much larger scale! Am I also sensing some Red Dwarf elements in your book?

Keep up the good work dude! I think you're doing great!
