When ruins and pain mark out our land...

This is once again Le Château de La Lieude, close to Bédarieux, Southern France.
During 12th and 13th centuries, in all our Occitan area, thousands of innocent Cathares have been murdered, or burnt at dreadful stakes, just because of small differences in their religious and philosophical approach of life. South of France will always remind, and those proud ruins are the only witnesses of these unbelievable dramas...
History shows us everyday that we easily forget the lessons of the past... The torturers remain, just the places change...

I love this place; the light and mood are changing each and every minute; summer tones bring here a natural contrast between the red earth, the green Mediterranean plants and the deep blue sky...
No Photoshop on the colours, just a little bit of contrast and clarity, noise reduction, frame and signature with Paint Shop Pro 9...

Water is a mineral. Sometimes it forms crystals (snowflakes), but it is the only mineral that can float in the sky. We can have wings of song like the clouds.

I think what you said is true. Both in a historical/political sense. But for me right now, it also holds truth in relationships, we can't grow if we give up on ourselves or others. Sometimes we have to humble and make peace with ourselves first.
